Franklin Co. 24 Frankfort 13

Featured Replies

FCHS could have blown this game wide open but had a ton of penalties, Breaking the huddle with 12 men??? FC has not huddled in 3 years. But oh well. Fields had very little on the ground and None in the air. FHS has a ton of talent but they could not get going. Probably more than FC if you judge it on 40 times. FC has a lot of work to do if they want to go anywhere in the post season. Most of the turnovers by FHS were caused by a fast FC defense, they were not just cough ups by FHS. Go Flyers!!!!!! Congrats on the UPSET (I guess).

The Fact that the Flyers didn't blow the game open I think says something about the Panthers.

I have said it many times that speed is good but you have to beable to BLOCK and TACKLE to win football games.

Frankfort has a major DEPTH issue.

Hate to say this but, Told u so, predicted this win. Sounded like a good game to be at though. Congrats FCHS.

FHS gave this one to FC....Way too many turnovers.

Maybe this will be the end of the can anybody stop/beat Frankfort threads for a week or two...:sssh:

Turnovers were key as were the penalties on Franklin County. Never could hit a big play every series for a number of flubs in the penalty department. The other big key was Franklin County ran 67 plays and FHS ran only 43 plays. County ran the ball 35 times and threw it 32 therefore keeping EJ Fields on defense instead of offense.

43 plays??? I had 35 total plays. Either way that horrible.

Call of the game was late in the 4th FCHS had the ball 4th down and short. FCHS hit Metcale on pass. FHS was selling out on the run. Great Offensive call. Nice play call.

I thought it was more like 25 plays and 6 turnovers... no way you winning with those stats.

Franklin co. did a good job of keeping FHS offense off the field.

Where was #32... and who is 82?

Players gave it all they had on both sides of the ball. I thought it was a fairly sloppy game with all the FC penalties and the FHS turnovers. Again both teams played extremely hard and from where I was good sportsmanship. Hats off to the Flyers, two plays killed Frankfort all night.

Thompson is maturing at QB. His reads are getting better every week. Deron Hicks is becoming a leader on the field. Thompson connected with Hicks over the middle on a huge 3rd and long in the second half. Terry Metcalf was very strong in the second half.

Frankfort definately had too many mistakes. This game will make them better. Look for Frankfort make a run in the playoffs this year.

IMO Terry Metcalfe is an excellent football player. He goes the Flyers go. I will enjoy keeping up wth him and the rest of the Flyers all year long.

I agree with fanofthe11th #52 Willie Smither and #68 jermey Barrnett are a dominate factor in games they work together on the D-line and make alot of plays, also they are both qiuck on thier feet and beast!! :fight:

Also #20 Terry Metcalf is dominate on the run game and he has worked very hard and become one of the best running backs' alot of people have seen!!

The Flyers controlled the tempo of the game! Elliott Potts suprised me with a 39 yd field goal!

T. Metcalf dominated for the Flyers. Did anybody else for the Flyer's even score besides him?

Too many turnovers and #82 for FHS was Aaron Hall a sophomore (first varsity game even playing)

I believe the Thompson Kid scored on a sneak. Terry Metcalf FCHS, had a great game on defense as well. Special teams is improving for the Flyers but still need work on covering.

One thing that I didn't understand was how you get a penalty for illegal substitution when you never huddle. It was called several times tonight as a player went on from Franklin County as a receiver and a receiver was leaving the game. The explanation I got was that the player coming on could NOT cross the numbers unless the player coming off was crossing the numbers as well. I have researched this rule and can't find it anywhere. Anyone have an answer for what the officials were thinking. Secondly, on the 90+ yard return by Hicks, the official followed the play all the way down the sideline. After the whistle was blown, he ran back 65 yards and marked a spot that he said Deron stepped out of bounds. Shouldn't the official mark the spot immediately and continuously blow his whistle if the kid stepped out of bounds. I have never seen an official follow the play for 65 yards and then come back to a spot. Thirdly, FC got a sideline warning flag in the first quarter because the side judge was bumped by someone on the sideline. I saw it happen. It was the cameraman for a news station. However, the official through a flag on FC. I have a hard time with that one. How is FC suppose to control the media.

Back to the game. FC benefited from some turnovers but I believe all of those turnovers were forced by hard hits or stripping the ball. It looked like there were two very good athletes on the field (Fields and Hicks) and some other kids with good speed but Fields fumbled 4 times proving he isn't use to being hit. Hicks dropped a pass that hit him directly in the hands but what impressed me was he made a miraculous catch on his next attempt that put the game away. With that being said, if I were a college coach, I would be looking at the defensive linemen for FC. Smither and Barnett were the MEN on the field this night. Frankfort couldn't get much generated because these 2 guys were tackling the entire backfield at the snap of the football.

Thompson played good enough to win but he still has a ways to go. The pass he lofted into the endzone was 6 points if he throws it on a line. The kid has a cannon and when he learns which throws to make in what situations, he will be an awesome quarterback.

Both teams did a good job coaching and the kids played their hearts out.
