Mercer lead 22-15 at half. PC scored w/ 1:32 to go in the game, & Chris Muse ran in the 2pt conversion to win it for PC. Mercer was held to 34 yards total offense in the 2nd half. Not bad for a PC team that has a "horrible defense", as stated by some other people on this board. Mercer was absolutely HUGE up front, but looked to be tired at the end. PC's D line controlled the line of scrimmage as the 4th Qtr wore on. Great job Maroons!! Keep that hunger, let's get ready for S. Laurel.

 

 

First of all...what a great game. I was impressed with Pulaski and thought they played extremely hard. Good athletes.

Mercer's QB played one heck of a game tonite. I thought Pulaski did a good job of pressuring him into hurried decisions, however, he kept us in the game most of the nite. I was impressed with his play. As he becomes seasoned, he is really going to be something.

Great Game!! Fun one to watch. Titans will be a handful in the playoffs, I firmly believe that. Gonna be a good year.

 

Unfortunately I had to work and couldn't make it to the game tonight. But 34 total yards in a half is a pretty ugly stat. I know stats aren't everything, and without actually seeing it. But, I have a difficult time envisioning the QB playing a heck of a game given those numbers.

Bottom line is the Maroons are growing up in a hurry and have worked hard. It is showing out on the field with their hard play and the athletes they have in the skilled positions are going to continue to "shock" people. South Laurel is next and if Southwestern can beat them badly, maybe a running clock?

I think the PC - Lincoln game will determine the district, should be a booger slinger. Any definitive word on the Abner boys injury?

I think I agree with you statement but PC is a close 2nd. Lincoln is a very good football team.

We are not going to have another Mercer thread go south this week because of posts about one another rather than the game. Those violating this will quickly be on the outside looking in.

Let's not get to "cute". For a team that has only won 4 games in 2 years, PC can not afford to overlook anyone. Keep that fire in the belly & play hard every down.

I'm with you 100%!! I firmly believe exactly what you just said in the last part! This district, although Im with someone else on here that Lincoln has probably wrapped it up, seems to be as balanced/competitive as any in the state. That's exactly how it is in the regular season, and I'm almost, but certain that's how it will be in the playoffs....so, I wouldn't count my chickens before they hatch, because it looks like all of us are going to have a couple go 'rounds with these dance partners!:thumb:

 

A play here or a play there goes different ways and Mercer is sitting at 4-0, and everybody (fans and doubters statewide) are talking about what a great team this is and how they aren't missing a stride in their new 5A.

Several dropped passes but the ones that were caught were beautifully thrown balls. Very few mistakes, and most importantly, he left it all on the field. Pulaski had him under quite a bit of pressure most of the night, and they should get most of the credit for the low offensive production in the second half. They made great adjustments at halftime. Pulaski played turnover free football as well. Couple that with the fact that Mercer shot themselves in the foot (lining up offsides..twice, delay of games, etc...); that killed drives, and that too contributed to the low numbers on offense. We just had trouble putting a sustained drive together in the second half.

You missed a really good game.
