How about a kicker where football comes first and can tackle also.

Congrats to both teams. Final score was closer than I thought it would be. Sounds like the Breds are for real this season.

Nice game on both sides. Congratulations to Ryle and condolences to NCC. Both teams will make a little noise in the playoffs I'm sure.:thumb:

Couldn't understand why they went with the two sophmore backs when Adam only carrier the ball 5 or 6 times and that wasn't until the fourth quarter when the Raiders marched up the field in about 2 minutes to reclaim the lead.

I thought the 2 young guys did great but with Adam in the backfield for four quarters I don't think it would have been close. And not passing until the final drive, what's that about? Hats off to Dylan Campbell. He out positioned the big guy for the INT and sealed the deal.

The paper this morning said Adam Schmitz had food poisoning. Thought something looked wrong since he was taken out more often than normal and looked gassed. NC was fortunate that they did not have to face a 100% Adam Schmitz. Some observations: NC will have very few close games this year as they will dominate most teams on their schedule. It was a hard-hitting game and NC was coughing up the football regularly due to big-time hits from Ryle - the Breds were very lucky to recover 4 or 5 fumbles in mad scrambles for the ball or the outcome would not have been so close. Ryle's O-line did a great job of run blocking. NC was 9 in the box, knew the run was coming and still did not stop it. Paper says 322 total yards for Ryle (only 10 passing) and 229 for NC. I agree with one of the posters that Ryle's play calling is too predictable and one-dimensional. Hopefully, they will one day start to mix run and pass. If they start to hit passes and the defense has to respect the pass, watch out. Great high school football game. Good luck to NC as you go for a 3-peat. Congrats to the Raiders.

Adam was up all Thursday night very sick - - went to school Friday but had to leave class several times. Hadn't eaten since Thursday evening - you are right the offense would have looked very different had he been 100%. I agree the score would not have been as close had everyone been on all cylinders. Glad we came away with a win - everyone stepped up and nice pic by Dylan. I heard the K for NewCath got hurt in a soccer match and may be out for a few weeks. Good luck Breds down the stretch!

Unfortunately all of the "should haves" in the world won't move that one from the loss column. Nice win Raiders. You should have won the game, and, well, you did.

Great game to watch. Let's don't get to carried away. Ryle could have very easily been the one that gets the L last night. Unfortunately we get the L but, We will benefit greatly from this game.:flame:

Well they would have had 3 Xp's.

23-21.

FG at the end there when they had 1st and goal on the 7 = 24-23, so yeah I could definitely say that.

and that would be "assuming" that they connected for all the extra points. At this point is it all speculation.

How about alot of noise:walk:

According to the box score, Ryle kicked a FG and missed their last XP, thus the 23 points.

So if the game played out like 98NCCalum said, if the kicker was healthy they would have conceivably been down 23-21 on their last drive. And at least they would have had the option to attempt a FG for the win.

I agree with all of that but at this point it is purely speculation. Assuming that the kicker would have been able to connect on every attempt. Are NCC's kickers that accurate?

This kicker is. Regardless, the Breds gave Ryle the ball too many times.

You have the ball that close at the end of the game...you should have won. Credit Ryle with making the pick.

You can't play the "should have won" card when you throw a pic. Can't pretend it didn't happen. The team that should have won did win.

Final

This was a great game to watch. Those who know football programs are usually correct in their predictions or assumptions. I sat their last night with my friend of 32 years the RAIDERLADY, yes she game to the blue and gold side gressed in her orange. We predicted a squeaker and that is what we saw. During the week there was mention of a blow out, or its over by half, or NCC could roll over and fold. None of this came close to happening. I don't want to be mean but for those who were making those statements all week I sincerely hope it takes a few hours today to get the egg off your face. Two first class football programs very rarely ever blown out the other in a game. The weaker opponent if there is one usually finds a way to make the fight interesting. These two teams are going to seriously hurt many of their opponents the rest of the year. Good luck to both.:fight:

you are so correct. The team that SHOULD have one did. But, guess what they came within one play of not. Remove the chip from the shoulder, your problem a pretty good person
