What is Ashland going to do????

Featured Replies

It almost appears that the Tomcats have been abandoned by there fans. If Ashland was 2-0 we would have Tomcat fans all over BGP. That bothers me.

I am one that feels the Tomcats will beat Ironton. I know you guys think I'm crazy or have been drinking that orange kool aid that Oldrambler has been passing around. Just a joke Rambler!! I truely think Ashland will be hunger come Friday. That win will be a major boost for this team. Now the week after that big win well it might be back to business as usual.

One thing is for sure Coach Hart is working hard to right the ship.

Go Tomcats

 I don't mess with the watered down Kool Aid, I go for and prefer Straight Orange Crush. :thumb: :D

I haven't abandoned anyone.

You are right. Their loyal fans are still here. You know the ones I'm talking about. They will be back once Ashland takes care of Ironton. Just watch.

Regardless of which team walks off the field with a win this Friday at Putnam, one of these traditional football powers will leave with a record of 0-3. I would have never predicted that for either program. I'm not sure about Ironton's remaining schedule, but Ashland has no daylight until the 12th of Oct. and the Greenup game. They face Russell at Russell, Mont. Co., Boyd Co. at BC and Woodford Co. on the road. That's a tall test for any team, much less one that is struggling to get their first "W" in the column. Coach Hart and this young team will certainly be tested these next few weeks. It will be interesting to see who steps up. Best of luck to the Tomcats except for that Friday night visit to the "Hank". :thumb:

Dad-no coach wins without talent.a poor coach is one that screws up that talent.Don't think Coach Hart falls in that category.

The coaches will know what to do. Leon Hart knows his stuff and he loves kids. If my son were an Ashland Tomcat playing for Coach Hart right now, I would keep my mouth shut and stay out of the way and let him motivate and coach the kids. I would also be thankful that my son could play for Coach Hart- what a blessing that would be!

Go Tomcats

I agree Jeepman, that Hart and his players are working hard trying to right the ship.

IMO Ashland has not been abandoned by their true fans, only the bandwagon fans that want to stick out their chest and wear the team colors when things are going well and then start bad mouthing the program when things don't go as planned. A true fan will give positive support to the kids and be there for them at all times.

The program is all about the young men that sacrifice everything they have and bust thier tails everyday to be a high school football player and represent their school and community. Keep working hard Tomcat players and good things will begin to happen.

Ashland will do what they always do. They'll improve through the season and finish strong.

I don't know if they are having a down year or just arent playing well. Maybe a little of both. It happens....

Ashland will be fine. If anybody takes them to lighty, it could be a long night for them.

:thumb: Absolutely cville! NO player or Coach anywhere goes out to intentionally lose a ball game. All of these coaches and players at ALL schools work their butts off and deserve respect from the fans.

ALL schools have these type of fans, claim to be all out fans constantly and talk about their program behind their back constantly.......makes me sick:irked: . Like I said, all teams / schools have them and they (along with others) know who they are. I certainly know some down here in our neck of the woods, they put on agood front and stand around the track/stands at the game and bad mouth the team and/or coaches. Imo if you are going to do that stay home. . (and that's all I have to say about that :D )

Sorry to get off topic of the "Ashland" thread, I had to vent on one of my pet peeves(so called fans)

If I were coach? Just what Hart said he was going to do ,work on -firing off football and staying with blocks,Wrap up when we tackle,(HIT),get Matt more involved in offense rather then just handing ball off.Go Tomcats((HIT).

I like Will Skaggs kicking field goals- good job.

Hmmm...

I don't know...maybe it's that Ashland played two fairly decent football teams.

Coach Hart (and Coach Dowdy...and Coach Tackett...etc., etc.) know more football in 1% of their brain than most internet browsers do in all theirs'.

There's quite a bit more to coaching 15-to 17 year-olds against good teams than it appears when your football experience consists of playing yourself in HS 20 years ago, then playing Madden today, and sitting in front of a TV set all day Saturday or Sunday...a LOT more.

It's not like hitting "Triangle" followed by "Square" gets the guy on the field to do EXACTLY what you want him to do.

Ashland has a LEGEND for a head coach, who actually CARES about his kids, is 100% POSITIVE every time I ever speak to him regardless of what happened the week before or how much people complain, AND who does things the RIGHT way (meaning-- he teaches as much about LIFE as he coaches football)...and there are still COMPLAINTS!???

I'd say be careful what you wish for...you just might get it--and in the process lose a VERY good coach and an even BETTER person!

:ylsuper: :ylsuper: Great Post "J", I agree with all of it and bolded the first comment due to the fact that some refuse to believe that some class A schools can play football. Coach Hart although I do not personally know him, always represents himself and the school with class and his Tomcat players do as well :thumb:

I agree Coach J. :thumb:

Coach Hart is a very good coach and this team will improve. Now, how that translates into wins and losses is anybody's guess. This is a very inexperienced team and it will take some time unfortunately.

I hope your quote, which is a good one, wasnt refering to my small quote.:thumb:

Agree with 51 .. Ashland needs to go back to basics ... Football is hitting , blocking and tackling ... Shorten the play book to those basics and go right at people .. Ashland has been too smart for themselves for years , much better talent than results. Ashland , Greenup , Lawrence are sleeping giants that have to go back to basics ....

Not preeching , as Ivan seemingly does it with an eye on execution of wing t .. And the rest takes care of itself ... But he has years and a calibrated eye for what will work and what will not .. Boyd gives Devils trouble when the Lions show up with good basics and take it right to the Devils ..

Ps .. Russell JFL provides the strong basics
