What is Ashland going to do????

Featured Replies

When you talk about the team you have to talk about the coach...

I don't know what Tuesday or Wednesday have to do with anything.

He's talking about preparing for the game, on Tuesday and Wednesday's.

Ashland is young this year, really young.:

This statement has been posted quite a bit and is used for all teams, but in all reality I would like for someone close to the program to actually list by class, how many starters are in each class. I can only list Thomas - Senior RB and Carter - Sophomore RB....Can someone list the starters, because there is a big difference between young and inexperienced. Take Boyd County for instance their Line is Young...they start 5 Sophomores.

Amusing thread. It sounds more like an attempt to convince readers that Hart is a good coach than a discussion of what Ashland is going to do.

If I haven't learned anything else about Ashland, I have learned that they are young and that Hart is doing his job. Somehow that isn't particularly enlightening and sounds more like excuse-making.

If they should beat Ironton on Friday night, it will sure indicate that the Tigers are at an all time low point talentwise and that Ashland is playing at home.

The coaches will know what to do. Leon Hart knows his stuff and he loves kids. If my son were an Ashland Tomcat playing for Coach Hart right now, I would keep my mouth shut and stay out of the way and let him motivate and coach the kids. I would also be thankful that my son could play for Coach Hart- what a blessing that would be!

I liked this post so much, I thought it was important to bring it up again!!!:thumb:

They have started off 0-2 with Ironton and Russell coming up. Looks like they may start 0-4. What are everyones opinion on what you would do if you were the coach????

I would quit reading BGP until I got a W...........

 That one killed me. Nice job Plato.

Me too. But I would still pray.

All teams have off years. At this point it appears that is the case for Ashland. Now if they rebound and beat Ironton and Russell who knows the sky is the limit. I'm still picking Ashland over Ironton.

True enough. However, Ashland is not in the same class as Ironton and hasn't been for a goodly number of years. Ashland's ups and downs are not news because Ashland is not seen as a real power as is Ironton. However, for Ironton to be so down that this Ashland team may well beat them is news.

Offense: Sr's - 3 Jr's - 5 Soph's - 3

Defense: Sr's - 4 Jr's - 5 Soph's - 1

On Defense I'm unsure about the second LB spot which is why I only have 10 players listed.

I'm not so sure if you look around that you won't find that a lot of teams are playing with young players. I know Russell is young on both sides of the ball. I don't have the numbers but I'm sure it's fairly close to what you just quoted.

If this is the truth then less than a fifth of the total players on offense and defense are sophmores(?) which I consider young. So they arent young just inexperienced. But the reason for the players to be experienced is that Hart doesnt develope the younger players that he has from year to year. I dont think anyone could disagree with me on this....

Valid points.

Happy ol' Dad, If you read through many of the posts (and others you started) you seem really negative towards Coach Hart. I think you may have something personal towards him!

As I read through this post, you seem to be outnumbered by T-cat fans and other area fans alike, you may want to reflect on it once in a while.

You may be absolutely correct (inside information) and I'm wrong but if you need to private message me with any disagreement, please feel free.

By the end of the season Ashland will still be Ashland, they will be ready come november.

I sure wish Francis Bavier "aka aunt Bee" was still around. She could figure this one out. I miss her wisdom.
