I heard on the coaches show this morning that this upcoming Mayfield/Ballard Memorial game is going to be the 1000th football game. I hope we have some kind of award or something we can put in the school, that would be so cool. It all started back in 1911 with the first game being Mayfield vs. Paducah Tilghman I believe. It would have been so cool if we could have scheduled Tilghman for that game but oh well.

At least it should be a solid "W" at home with the Bombers coming to War Memorial. A GREAT milestone for a great program!

Wow...That is alot of football games...:thumb:

Go Cardinals!!

And out of those 1000 games,I only saw Mayfield played once, and was last season at Danville.

I think it is safe to say that no one has seen all 1,000 games over the past 96 years.

My alma mater began in 1974 and I can only think of one person who saw every single game and that was a teacher who filmed the games for the team. If he hasn't seen them all, no one has.

I saw every one of my alma mater's games from 1974 through 1988 and 1994 through 2000. I saw at least one game every season except the last four.

Congratulations to Mayfield High and the football program on that great milestone!

What is their won -loss percentage ?

They said it, but I am not quite sure exactly sure on the exact number, something like 760 something and 240 something so its at least .700. If I'm not mistaken, Mayfield is still in the top 10 in wins in the country.

That is so such a feat to have anymore. Owensboro Senior had the same thing last year and invited every player that ever wore a jersey for them back to the game. They had them all on the field at the same time. They also had a player who was the team captain ( i believe ) on the first team to play at Rash Stadium, and he flipped the coin ( with a little help ). They played John Hardin, they had like all kinds of pre game activities, post game etc. He was quite a show!...Best wishes Mayfield on your long and storied and of course very sucessfull history.

Thanks for the words Radio, too bad it wasn't next week when there will be 5K plus at War Memorial for the "Battle of the Birds" vs Crosstown rival Graves County!

That's alot of football we have played, the program has brought the community alot of notoriety

Congrats to Mayfield, what a great milestone! :ylsuper:

If my math is accurate, Highlands played their 1,000th game at Grant County last year.

But I don't think anybody (except me) noticed.
