Pikeville 34 Ashland 21

Featured Replies

Pikeville, imo, has established themselves as the team to beat in 1a, on the east side of the bracket, with 2 solid wins in a row...I know its early, but, thats how I see it at the moment...

So what should Coach Hart do in this situation. As Dicky said it last night. Ashland paid money to have Raceland and Pikeville come to Putnam and give them a Butt whipping. I have no idea what should be done. Ironton next week should be a win for Ashland. Then Russell. Then it only gets worse. They start playing teams on there own level. No home fiield advantage. No

1-A teams. They start playing the big boys. Coach Hart will regroup and win some key games that count. Lets face it. These games really don't count. It may just make Ashland hungry.

I thought Ashland was more dangerous with #3 at QB with Thomas and Carter at RB...that is a very tough RB duo...

I'm sure once Coach Hart looks at the film today you will see some people moved around. Maybe the combo you are talking about.

Hey spindoc when will "The Hill" be starting there high school football program? Just Curious.

If their middle school team keeps whipping up on your middle school team, as they have the last two years, it shouldn't be too long. The key would be, will you actually schedule them? They will be a Class A team and you don't compete well against Class A teams. Or will you dodge them as your middle school attempts to do each year?

Rose Hill may never field a high school varsity team. Time, numbers, and money will determine that. However, they have made a rather significant point in regard to middle school football within the Ashland city limits the last two years.

I thing you are right, and another place i would look at is the o-line.All of us who have played the game have wanted to play in backfield and be heros, but sometimes you have to do whats best for the team. Two guys off the top of my mind would be Nethercutt and Alber at the guards im sure their are other backs that would get after somebody and get the job done. When you can read a guard trapping from the stands leaning to trap thats not good.I always dreamed of being a fullback but i was asked by my coach to play on the line and do whats best for the team ,you have to have the best 11 on the field. :thumb:

Well theirs my 2 cents it takes more then just putting a uniform on to be a football player ,its all HEART .

Again Pikeville good game i like the way you guys get after it.:thumb:

Better not overlook SV...the rumor in the VALLEY is that this is their year to get Belfry.

lol

It's been "their year" for the past five years HAHA

Congrats to Pikeville on the win. They have a fine football team and program.

Ashland is a young football team that will improve as the season move forward. The kids are working their tails off and I'm sure no one wants a win more than they do.

Stay positive and continue to work hard.

Another quality lose for Ashland.... Appeared to be no improvement from last week to this....

Oldrambler, I think you've had one too many cups of Tomcat koolaid. It sounded very much to me as though Coach Hart will be starting from square one with his offense. Didn't he ditch Thomas and play the soph QB in the 2nd half? I agree that both Raceland and Pikeville are quality 1A representatives, but for Ashland to have any kind of season they have to put a team on the field that can execute. JMO

rd78 my preferred drink is Orange Crush :D . As far as local h.s. teams Raceland (of course) is #1 with me then comes Ashland and Lawrence.

Hang in there Cats! We all need to remember that there are only 4-5 kids out there for Ashland that have had any varsity experience. They are a young and inexperienced team. I also think there is a lot of talent on this team, they just need to be taught and get some experience under their belts.

Good post momcat :thumb:

Ironton next week. I look for the Tomcats to rebound.
