Wright played for Lawrence Co. However, here are some of the ones I can think of recently:

I agree with most of them but tell me where Timberlake is playing at. I have seen him all year at a house up the street. He either is not playing or has to be playing close to home.

Russell is no doubt the better team on paper and expected to win, however, they did expose a couple weaknesses that I am sure the coaching staff is addressing. But the weaknesses exposed may take several weeks to completely fix. So that being said, Boyd County I believe will score some points, but I don't think the Boyd County Defense will have much success stopping Jones and company...I look for it to be something in the area of 33-20. Russell pulling it out.

 

As for saying the Boyd County win 2 years ago was not an upset..I disagree. Russell was supposed to win that game...Boyd County winning wasn't an upset, but how they won was. They dominated that game physically. Russell couldn't do anything that night. And that I think was the upset part.

I agree with your assesment, and it was an ugly game on Russell's part as Red Devil stated.

IMO, it will probably be the other way around. Boyd defense line seems to be more effective than their O-line. I think they might hold Russell to may 2 or 3 TDS. I'm afraid Boyd may only break one or 2 big plays on offfense.

Our kids learn from an early age from our JFL coaches that football is a team sport and the focus is on the team. Kids are proud to be on an offensive line and work as a unit, to learn that each position is as important as the other and that no one person is more important that the whole. I guess that explains the success here. We focus on the team. Also, many of our football player receive academic honors and scholarships for college. They were good high school players, but they focus on the academics at college.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, but honestly, that's every coaches goal. All successful teams play with a team concept.

I dont believe that is the difference here. If you go by JFL values and go by the past, then there would not be a team that should even come close to Boyd Co and Raceland, because they were by far the best JFL's league in this age group. Unfortunately not all kids continue to play and not all kids continue to believe the things you taught them in JFL. Plus sometimes the parents slightly get in the way too.:thumb:

All due respect but my son's JFL teams have always beaten Raceland and Boyd County, as well as his Middle school and Freshman teams. In fact, I don't remember Raceland or Boyd JFL teams beating any of the teams that are in his age groups. Of course, my Middle Age Memory loss could be leading me astray. I only know that for the older kids and my son's age groups, their teams have focused on team concept.

Anyway, good luck to Boyd County tonight and hopefully both our teams will exhibit great TEAM characteristics.

Dont get me wrong..I by no means were bragging about Boyd County's JFL Program compared to Russell's. I was just stating that the JFL with this Junior/Senior group was as good as anyone. It has definetly went down hill since then, but is in the process of building back at this point in my understanding.

 

I can honestly say that Russell has always had a very strong league, and they have great leadership.

Russell games were always very exciting, but I can honestly say that I coached in the BC JFL for 7 yrs and never lost a game to Russell. Dont get me wrong, the Russell games were only second to playing Raceland. I can remember playing Russell at least twice a year and had some tremendous hitting games, but my point was that Boyd County's youth was always as good as anyone, especially in this age group.

 

Good luck to Russell friday night, but hopefully Boyd can put it together.

I agree. But the JFL does serve as a feeder system for the school. If you keep kids interested you have more kids come out when they are in high school.
