Dont get me wrong..I by no means were bragging about Boyd County's JFL Program compared to Russell's. I was just stating that the JFL with this Junior/Senior group was as good as anyone. It has definetly went down hill since then, but is in the process of building back at this point in my understanding.

I can honestly say that Russell has always had a very strong league, and they have great leadership.

Boyd Co. Jr. and Sr. class never beat Raceland's Jr.or Sr. class in JFL. [ ever]

what are you trying to prove???????

You all are comparing apples to oranges. We all know that kids mature faster than other kids. You all are taking about 7 and 8 year olds.

Actually, JFL goes through the 6th grade and then the schools take over. I just know that in JFL my son learned to love football at a young age, learned basic skills and appreciated the joy of playing with other kids on a team. It appears from the other posts that other kids enjoy these same benefits. I know that no matter how good Russell's high school team is, there are many great guys at the JFL level who gave our kids these wonderful building blocks for good teams.

Totally the funniest thread I have ever read, grown people arguing about stuff that happened 10 years ago that has absolutely no effect on the present

Not sure where you are going with this one...But it is a true statement. I believe if you would have read all the posts, I pretty well stated that, you just decided to copy a part that didnt state that. I have stated that is a great team that played with Heart, but lets keep in mind I have seen a lot more BC JFL teams beat Raceland, then the other way, but hey I would ride the Strong Horse too.:thumb:

I believe everyone is trying to state a point, and that is the Feeder programs are definetly important, I know kids change and grow up differently then other kids, but with bad experiences in the JFL program, that tends to stick in a kids head. That is proven at Boyd with a low turnout for Football anymore.

I also believe Consolidation if a big factor in how your JFL works too. I know Boyd and Raceland both consolidated their teams and that will hurt both leagues, at Boyd it already has. All that does is run kids off that would be sitting on the bench, when they could be getting some playing time with more teams. And trust me I have seen some third string RB's in JFL set records at the HS Level, so you have to be careful who you run off. Consolidation is just a form of running kids off. When I started coaching in the JFL all area leagues had twice as many teams, if not more, then they have had in the past few years, except Russell. Russell's league never did bow to anyone and kept their standards and gave every kid an oppurtunity and you have to commend them for that.:thumb:

Good post and actually back in the day, I believe Russell did not even have a JFL and was still as strong at the HS level.

I believe sometimes we start these kids out too early and burn most kids out by the time they get to MS or HS level.

Very good post and very true. JFL should be about giving as many kids as possible a chance to play. It will pay off in the long run.
