They sent a scout down to the scrimmage last week and he did not even know that he was trying to scout the JV game and then left at halftime. The only words I heard him utter were that this was ridiculous, referring to Highlands numerous scores in the first half.

Talk about recruiting! That is ugly. The part I found interesting was Shaw leaving a Catholic school so that he could play for a man with God in his heart.

Are you saying the T-M scout was impressed or unimpressed by HHS' scrimmage against Male? Was he watching the JV scrimmage or the varsity scrimmage???

Was he watching the JV scrimmage or the varsity scrimmage??? I would say that he was impressed with the ease at which they were scoring. A little "shellshocked" perhaps. He started off scouting the JV game because an elderly Highlands fan told him that the Varsity was scrimmaging at one end of the field and the JV at the other when in fact it was the JV scrimmage he was watching and the freshman at the other. He did scout the first half of the varsity game and then left to return to Dayton. If that was Trotwood's idea of an advanced scout things should look pretty good for the Birds considering they are sending out the venerable Charlie Barr and new sidekick John Murray to do the scouting.
strongopenyon Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 This was meant with sarcasm and please take it that way. I find it humerous that in Kentucky, the Catholic schools are accused of cheating while a public school in Ohio is being accused of recruiting kids from the Catholic school. What it all boils down to is the student athlete and parents of the student athlete are looking for the best opportunity. My suspicion with the Trotwood situation is that these kids are seeing numerous players receiving scholarships to a variety of wonderful universities and they want to maximize their opportunity to do the same.

Would it be possible to get a picture of these same players wearing their uniform's from last year. Now that would have been a great cover picture!
cshs81 Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I've been told by an Alter guy today that Shaw was really not utilized to his full capabilites and that probably had a lot to do with him transferring.
