It oils your imagination, keeps your mind sharp, strengthens your ability to communicate, and broadens your ability to interact with the world around you. August 23, 200719 yr I read constantly. Probably 20 books a year plus I subscribe to and read: Maxim, Stuff, Blender, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, The Sporting News, ESPN and (while I'm on the road at least) USA Today.

August 24, 200719 yr Started on To Kill A Mockingbird this evening. "North Alabama was full of Liquor Interests, Big Mules, steel companies, Republicans, professors, and other persons of no background." With a line like that in the first few pages of the book, you know it's a classic.

August 24, 200719 yr I'm pretty lucky when it comes to the books that are on the shelves or in the garage. My daughter is a HS senior, so there are plenty of what I might call "young adult classics", like Catcher and 451 and Mockingbird close at hand. In addition, my son is finishing up a doctorate in Postmodern English Literature; and there are a WHOLE BUNCH of his books in the garage. Anytime I want to pick up something good to read, I don't have to travel more than 40 feet. And I still try to find time to read crime fiction from the local library. Now if I could only get to painting the bathroom and cutting the grass...
August 24, 200719 yr ^^ Good book. I just finished the Kite Runner, now I want A Thousan Splendid Suns. Kite Runner was a GREAT book! I'm reading Vatican, a Novel by Malachi Martin now.
