Prediction Kasey Clark will not be the BackYard Brawl MVP for the fourth straight year his streak ends at 3. I'll bet the house on that one. Greenup Co. is better than previous years. However they are not yet good enough to go to The Hank and end the streak. Russell extends the home winning steak, and a new MVP is crowned.

Speaking of Kasey Clark, how is he doing? Has anyone heard?

He is doing well. He returned a punt for a TD today in 1st string special teams scrimmage. He also deflected a punt last week in an intersquad scrimmage. He is getting more reps on special teams, and is really looking forward to playing Louisville August 30th. He asked me how all the area teams looked and said that he hoped both the Rams and Devils were both undefeated going into week 10. Then I had to hang up on him!:fight: Family Fued!

Greenup has never won at Russell!! Now that was something I did not know.

Well we would not want to break the streak. Russell wins.

Something must have happened between 2004 at GCHS and now for these seniors because they were undefeated as freshmen. This included a victory over Russell's freshmen.

A friend of mine told me that the losses of Dalton Terry (to Raceland) and Darrell Mahan (to Ashland -- yet attempting a return to GCHS football) has set them back.

I guess Greenup County doesn't have the horses to compete with Russell!

Its hard to make assumptions based upon what happened during a freshman season. Some of those kids may not play anymore. Others may have transferred or moved. And Varsity teams are made up of more than seniors. A good Freshman team does not always translate into success at the next level.

Russell's young secondary should get a good early test in this game.

Who is their kicker? Why do you think they will attempt a FG and lastly, will he be GC's MVP in this game?

The kicker might be the MVP since QB Eric Craft came up lame in the Ironton game. The injury has something to do with his throwing motion, although I am not quite sure which part of his body is injured.

Sources tell me that several GCHS players were injured during the weekend, including a 4-wheeler accident which will cause their 6'6" linemen to miss the rest of the season due to a broken leg.

The "hits" just keep on rolling for GCHS.

I look for Greenup to show signs of improvement as the season wears on, but to kick it off in the Hank with Devils who just a few months ago were playing in their second straight State Championship game is too tall of an order.
