I've heard that the game has been moved back to 8:30pm. I would assume the reason is they hope it will be a little cooler an hour later. Can anyone confirm this?

Consider it confirmed...:thumb:

Also note, all area officials have been instructed to check with the home team on the heat index to make sure the games do not start until the conditions are safe (as they should). More game times may be moved back or start late if the forecast holds out.

Russell probably will still win it but as far as what I have heard......ahhhhh , nothing much :D :D :D :D :sssh:

If you got your info from the people I have heard saying that GC beat Ironton in last weeks scrimmage, you have been misled. Today a guy told me he heard it was 16-14 GC. I know it was 35-6 Ironton at the end of the third quarter. Somebody down on the west end of the county must be shoveling a truckload of fertilizer...

Nope, I didn't even know that GC scrimmaged Ironton.

I do agree with moving the start time back on Friday tough, makes sense - I hope that the Ashland/Raceland game does that as well.

Russell 28

Greenup 9

GC's Kicker is getting better as the thread goes on!!! Now, He (whoever he is) is getting 3 FG's instead of the measly 1 FBALL was giving him earlier.

Does anybody have the scores from all of the games played since the early 70's? It is my understanding that GCHS has won only 8 times and each of those games were played @ GCHS.

Russell will cruise and look forward to the real challenge of their early schedule with Boyd and Ashland.

This game is a laugher now with all of the turmoil going on in Lloyd.

Turmoil in Lloyd??? Between you and oldrambler, someone please elaborate...

I know nothing about any turmoil in Lloyd but..................that is a good bet at anytime, there is always turmoil down there over something  . A person would have a scoop if there was no turmoil at GCHS. Turmoil at Lloyd is pretty much like death and taxes - it is an absolute given. "IF" there is (and I don't know if there is or not) the ones that I really feel for is the kids, they are supposed to be what it is all about.

JMO and again - I haven't heard anything about that.

He might be talking about the injury of key players. That would not be turmoil although. I'm sure he/she will come back and elaborate.

Greeenup County has no siginificant injuries. (A kid broke a finger last week in the scrimmage w/Ironton, but he will play.) This is a huge game for GC because it sets the tempo for their whole season. Pressure is on Sammons, he needs to win this year if he wants to continue coaching at GC. Russell has to know that the Muskies will be throwing the ball on every play. It will be a good test for our secondary. You can bet Coach Morris will have a game plan that will seek to capitialize on a "pass only" offense. GC wil see a good dose of the classic wing-t just like last year and year before that and the year before that... Jones will run the bootleg early and often until somebody stops him. A big edge for Russell is the coaching staff. Years upon years of experience on the sidline vs GC and "not so much experience" and that's being kind. If Russelll jumps out early and puts two or three td's on the board, you can put a fork in GC because they will be done, very well done. (GC cheerleaders will be outstanding as always!)

78- what type of offense do they run, obviously they intend on passing a lot, but do they run a spread like OC did 2 years ago?

Yes, it's the Tony Franklin spread offense. They actually moved the ball quite well on Ironton.

Midee1, The Blue Blazer and little Blue Blazer will be at the Rams-Cats game in Putnam. I will see you on the 31st which is the Rams open week!

Thanks!

I would say "could have moved the ball" is more like it. They really never sniffed the endzone more than the one touchdown I saw. It is possible they moved the ball better in the fourth quarter (I stopped watching after the 3rd). From what I saw, they did have some receivers open at times, but dropped TOO many passes.

How is Russell’s secondary? I’ve been hearing that it’s not as good as recent years. If true this could be an interesting game.

But, I expect Russell will win.
