IF true, a)he's sillier than he's already shown and b)not very smart by leaving an electronic trail.

Wilson Sears has already proven himself to be an incompetent fool. If he sent such an email, me should be fired. He has no interest in what is best for his constituency. He merely wants to get his way regardless of what ends he must go to to do so.

As more and more people learn about him, it becomes increasingly obvious that the public people need to get another front man. He sure isn't helping their cause.

Now.......I admit Wilson Sears may not be the best guy........but the "legislative run" by the private schools and the arrogance shown during the meetings that "we don't have to compromise" attitude of private school members (2 to be precise) is a major factor in all this. I do not agree with Wilson Sears but the premise of the argument is just and boundaries are just. And............a boycott of private schools is being discussed.

Do I agee? NO..........but the frustration level is getting very high in some sectors because of the loss of students. Private schools job is to recruit students....no tuition no school.

Public schools need to become more PR savvy and "get in the game."

That being said the private schools that do the most damage in the public school sector are ones in direct competition for students with specific public school systems. By and large this has no bearing on the majority of public schools as far as a student base and numbers of students. Since numbers of students drives the public school money and tuition drives the private school money it is all about filling the seats. Public schools need to compete in that arena.

OH and it would not affect (the boycott) conference play or post season play.

If he did I don't think this would fly in Northern Kentucky . A desperate man grabbing for straws .

Don't be so sure about that. There are some frustrated public districts who watch as kids are taken away. I think the sentiment in No. Ky. would surprise alot of people.

Can you please explain how this boycott would work?

Also, how can anyone now use the excuse that this is NOT about public vs. private?

Over the course of the time from the initial proposal to it's review by the LRC, a number of posters have adamantly stood behind Prop 2 on the premise that this is a good proposal, not aimed at public vs. private, but at stopping recruiting of middle schoolers by ALL high schools.

To me, the comments by Mr. Sears clearly define Proposal 2 as a public/private issue.

In addition, I will point out that the Private schools DID propose a compromise that was NOT accepted by the Public schools' representative. They proposed that public middle schoolers choosing private high schools would have to sit out thier freshman year. BUT, they wanted that restriction removed for private grade/middle schoolers choosing public schools.

Further, the Private schools proposed that the budget of the KHSAA be increased to fund more investigators to handle the allegations that stem from alleged violations of the current KHSAA rules.

IMO, the private schools have compromised to the degree that they can, and that public school representatives have not compromised as much as they could.

Because of the two factors I mention above, and Mr. Sears comments, I firmly believe that there is absolutely no way to avoid the fact that this is a witch hunt against private schools.

Don't be so sure about that. There are some frustrated public districts who watch as kids are taken away. I think the sentiment in No. Ky. would surprise alot of people.
What the private schools kidnap them ?

I can not speak for the rest of NKY, but I can tell you that nobody from Somerset or Louisville is going to dictate to us who we put on our schedule.

Well now, let's see what we would have if Sears's tantrum succeeds in a boycott.

The KHSAA is a "voluntary" organization. Schools in Kentucky are not forced to be a member.

However, KHSAA rules state that no member school is allowed to play any instate school that is not a member.

Therefore, in order to play in the postseason, the private schools would be required be to a member of the organization, with all its resrtictions and liabilities, but would have no games other than against fellow private schools and out of state schools.

Or, the private schools could withdraw from the KHSAA and not be allowed to play in postseason.

KHSAA has, in reality, pretty much a "closed shop" setup.

The result of all of this would be that the students attending the private schools would be seriously damaged by the intentional acts of those in the public schools. The cause-effect relationship would be obvious.

Does anyone else see some real furtile ground for litigation if Sears gets his way?

As I said earlier, the public schools need to get rid of Sears and get someone more responsible as its front man.

If he did I don't think this would fly in Northern Kentucky . .

You may have 1 or 2 schools but , in general, this will not happen in NKY.

Exactly when and how was Wilson Sears "elected" as the front man for the Public schools. He sure as heck doesn't speak for me or my school district. Let me rephrase that, he doesn't blather on like an idiot for me or my school district. His ideas and statements are like venom. He has a clearly discriminatory agenda, has no clue what REAL competition is about and obviously doesn't think before he spews. oh, and I'm sure he's a very nice gentleman . . .

I would not be at all surprised if Sears has done this. It would be very typical of the mentality of many (I'm talking about the Lexington schools and their boycott of LexCath, or those that refuse to play JV and frosh games with Trinity) that if we don't get our way we will take our ball and go home. I thought that schools were supposed to assist in the maturation process of youngsters. How can that happen if the leadership of the schools acts like a 5 year old?

Finally, anyone who really believes that this is not about trying to damage the private schools in light of Sears' comments is delusional IMVHO.
