Dixie/NCC Scrimmage

There you go APNW, blame me for creating interest in high school football!

Believe it or not my son told me he wants to go see Boone and Beechwood scrimmage but I told him I wanted to go see Dixie and NCC scrimmage. I will probably give in to my son but I would like to see this titantic struggle.

Boone won't be Boone until Farris is there full time so I'd skip that one. Go to Dixie. Actually the "undercard" Simon Kenton/Dayton scrimmage before the "main event" might be quite entertaining if Dayton is healthy.

For $5 you can't beat it and if you get there early you can sit on one of those nice benches with a back rest in the lower arena.

I'm getting a tear remembering some of the classic Mak moments.

I loved reading his stuff. NewCath had its first unbeaten regular season, creamed Dixie in the scrimmage. Life was good.

Just as nice as when it was a very high score to 7 for me. :D

Newcath will be lucky to match that years performance this season. :madman:

We're gonna spank em'!

JK :D Good luck Breds and I hope you guys have another great season.

And have one of Dixie's famous FUNNEL CAKES !!!:thumb:

If only so that you can have something to add to the inevitable debate that is sure to follow.

The truth is the coaches and players could care less, it's a few of us fans who have made this one mean so much.

Still, I'll be there early so I can get a good seat.:D

NCC coaches play this as "game conditions". They have spotters in the press box with head phones to the field. Just like game conditions.

To the Dixie coaches, just another scrimmage.

I was told that once before but honestly didn't give it much thought.

I know how we as a team approach this scrimmage and can happily say that we get out of it exactly what we want this matchup for. A quality opponent to evaluate players in game like coditions before the regular season starts.

This matchup has helped both of our programs emensley over the years and I hope our preseason rivally always continues.

I remember back prior to scheduling the Breds in the pre season when it was next to impossible for us to find a quality tune up match without traveling, and even then it wasn't a given.

I once traveled three hours only to see a quarter of football including the two's and three's! Inside the first minutes of the game we ran a kick off back, intercepted a pass for a TD, recovered a fumbled snap, then ran 22 yards for a TD on the first play from scrimmage.

We were up so high on the opposing team at the end of one that they cancelled the scrimmage.

With the titanic struggle just hours away, what is the line on the game.

I'm going with a final of Dixie 35 - NCC 21 (including JV's) Varsity will be 21-7.:D

What time is the battle royale?

What time is the battle royale?

Set for 8:00 PM Tommorrow night!

I'm sitting down here in Gatlinburg right now, so I expect a detailed report tonight on this epic battle when I log back on. ;)

Be sure to stop by the Gatlinburg Brewery and order a round of "testers." That and a steak at Calhouns.

Yes, but its a tune up for the coaches too. You wouldn't want to get the headphones out for the first game and realize it isn't working properly. Even the spotters should get a game for practice before the real thing so why not?
