rltrace
If I hear one more Ky politician say that legalizing casino gambling in Ky will lead to massive problems for the state, I will puke. Hey legislators, gambling is already legalized in this state, wake up!!!! I can sit right here in the luxury of my home and gamble on anything from NCAA and Pro Sports to Horse Racing, 24/7, I can go out and buy hundreds of lottery tickets, Play Bingo, enter Texas Holdem tournaments, go to casino nights, play showdown and craps at church picnics and go to the Track for live action or simucasting. Yeah sure rltrace, but you can't play video slots. the heck I can't, I can find more slot machines in 10 minutes online then there are at Caesar'sand Belterra combined. Some legislators seem to think they are protecting our young, inexperienced citizens from the havoc that gambling can produce and in a small way that maybe true, but I have been to Caesar's many times and guess what? I see way more older folks walking with canes and pushing oxygen tanks than I do people under 25. So who are we protecting? So stop it with this stupid righteous attitude, gambling is already rampant in this state. The state already has all the problems that gambling brings but very little of the profit. The simple fact is that alot of people like to gamble!!! It's entertaining. Wake up this is 2007.

leatherneck
I agree with you rltrace. I think Fletcher is wrong on this issue and as folks know, I'm a pretty solid Fletcher supporter.
cch5432
I sure hope they don't legalize it (because not only do I have no luck, but also no skill and almost no self-control), but I can't imagine it causing that many problems.

Dlbdonn
Legalize It . The state is losing too much money to our neighbors .
leatherneck
Politicans will do what they want for their own good not ours, bet you. You may be right. Then again, it may simply be a matter of an honest belief that gambling brings evils into society or a honest moral difference. Contrary to what people think, not every decision made by every politician is based on self centered motivations.

ladiesbballcoach
If they do and they use the profits for Education, fine with me. I remember those who supported the lottery selling the idea of the profits benefitting education and solving the education problem. How did that work out for you? Legalizing gambling in this state is a horrible idea and would cause problems. More in individual families than in social issues. Government should be in the business in helping families and not setting up ventures that will hurt families.

I Just hope the people of Kentucky don't get fooled into thinking that if gambling is made legal the taxpayers are going to benefit in any way. Most people know the Vegas suppliers and a few more rich folks will be the beneficiary's of legalized gambling. Remember, every red cent of this so-called windfall revenue coming from legalized gambling will be coming right out of our pockets. Call it wrong or call it right, I have a problem with our state Govt depending on gambling for revenue. I'd like to hear an alternative plan from Mr. Bashear before deciding my vote...Bet he don't have one.
