I have read several of these posts and I am a Rock fan and looking back on the Riherds scoreboard I cannot see that playing the hardest schedule has really helped SW out that much. I may be missing something on the KHSAA website, but SW hasn't made it very far in the playoffs in the years that are posted on the website. Playing a really tough schedule is great for the Football fans, but no so great when players are being lost due to injury prior to the playoffs. Rock has tremendous tradition and a 2 state runners up.

Actually going back on the scoreboards (1998 is as far as they go) the series is 3-2 in favor of Rockcastle. As a matter of fact most of the games have been blowouts in favor of one team or another with 4 shutouts.

2004 Southwestern 48 Rockcastle 0

2003 Rockcastle 14 Southwestern 0

2000 Rockcastle 43 Southwestern 0

1999 Southwestern 42 Rockcastle 13

1998 Rockcastle 28 Southwestern 0

Very unusual to have 4 shutouts in 5 games between two quality teams.

That is what I thought also. That goes to show you how "recent" his memory is, :sssh: :D

........You are right hasbeen21, playing the tougher teams in the State has not helped the Warriors advance in the play-offs. I am sure that is not the motivation for playing the higher caliber teams. The competition of having played the better teams seaso after season is what is the driving force for Coach and his Staff. For our Warriors to look back on their playing careers and saying we have played against the better teams and star players in the State is the memories that are cherished, not the runned up scores of defeating the inferior teams. To have said We have played against great teams like Highlands, Male, Lexington Catholic, Rockcastle, Bell, Boyle,Danville, and on and on is thrill that is not forgotten. Competing against many of the best players the State have known such as Tim Couch, Michael Bush, Marty Reagon, and many, many others that have went on to star at the higher levels is the ultimate experience. To play ball and competed against the best is Coach's seasonal goal. As far as losing any of our players as a result of playing against the best teams has NEVER happened. Yes, we lost 2 players last year in our last game of regular season against hometown rival and sister school Pulaski Co. Then we did lose another starter in the following play-off game against Pulaski Co. Our hometown games are usually as physical as any. I would be remiss if I did not mention that SWHS is 14 years old and only a fledgling compared to the great tradition at the great institutions that we play.We are proud of the experiences we have gained even though we have not made it to the Finals. Give us the time and bare with us, we will be there sooner or later...Good luck to all the Kids out there playing football, see ya on the field...:thumb:

^ With this I would agree!! Football is and will forever be a game that is played, won and loss on the field. Great players are not born they are made. Wins and Losses will remain with you FOREVER!! Just being part of some of the best games is all you'll remember later on and realize that it was the greatest time in your life.

I totally understand your point Keemo. Well said and I do agree with all of what you just said, but I also believe that if the kids had just a soft game here and there they would stay helathier and increase their post season chances and that the kids will care about more than who they lost to.

I believe the ROCK will win this one. The ROCK 21 Southwestern 14.

I don't think anything derogatory has been said about any of the four schools in this Bowl game. I do think people have given there honest opinion on who would win the games which I thought is why the thread was started. If SW had been playing Rock LY I would have chosen SWHS. I do think Rock is just a little better shape this year and should win the game. I don't want them to but the thread said "What are your predictions" it did not say, "who do you want to win"

BGP has always had very informed and thoughful posters with enough common sense to realize that just because someone doesn't pick your team they don't have something against you.

Go Jumpers and go warriors good luck in the Correll Bowl.

How is that new grass doing. With company coming (SWHS & ROCK) in the first game on the new turf, it will need to be ready or it could be damaged severely which I do not think would be good for the field for the remainder of the season"s Home games... Just curious 'cause I never get out that way. Will Meece be using the field also?...:thumb:

I walked up there yesterday before Meece's practice and the Bermuda has popped through. It was still pretty thin but it is really supposed to take off from here. Meece will use the field but their first game is the 18th and its away followed by a game with Southern on the 23rd but that game is listed as TBA--I'm sure now it will be at Southern so as not to play on the field the day before the bowl game.

I had heard that Southern showed the game to be on the 28th. The schedule I saw was done by a parent but the assistant that I talked to thought that we were playing on the 23rd. Its probably a misprint by the parent but the coaches at Southern may want to confirm the date--I know we don't have a game on the 28th otherwise so I'm sure it could be played then.

No, problem. Like I said the schedule I saw had been put together by a parent and didn't have times listed for any of the games or anything--just a tentative one. However, if it looks like they may have different dates down now's a good time to get it fixed.
