I think you guys are going to be hugely surprised by the "young" Warriors. They have a great leader in QB T.T.; a whole different corps of receivers; loads of talent in the backfield; the line - both OL and DL - are huge; fast DBs and hard hitting LBs. I hope you get to sit back and say "Wow, where did these guys come from?" when you watch them the first game of the season. I know I am so excited for the season to begin!! Good luck guys!

I think the loss of Somerset's quarterback will have the same effect as you suggest the loss of SWHS seniors. I know everyone is under-playing his loss and his contribution to the great success of Cole. I think that you and others may be over-looking the ability of Coach Hines to get get his Team motivated to defend against one of the best receivers in the State. Again, if you would research Rockcastle you would find that they also are in a rebuilding year and they will be struggling to find their niche, same as SWHS. I think that "swforever" and I feel that all things being equal, that we just never have truly gotten the respect deserved from you SHS fans and given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to games such as the upcoming game...

There's no doubt that Somerset will miss Deaton. However, Chase Hall is not inexperienced. He played signifigant minutes in 2005, and not just in mop up duty. He was usually given 3-4 series a game and was a big reason that Somerset beat Lynn Camp that year. He'll be able to get Cole the ball and you can't forget about Kenny Hughes who should be a load in the backfield this year. Somerset has more than just Cole. Rockcastle did lost a lot to graduation--but not 18 seniors. They return a very solid backfield and always have solid line play. I hope the Warriors win this game and I think if it were played a little bit later in the season that they might even be favored. I just think it is a lot to expect that many new starters to have it all together for the first game against what promises to be a top 10 4A team. But if Warrior Princess is correct I could be in for a pleasant suprise.

Jumper1 you are correct this is one of the toughest schedules sw has ever had but when you play playoff caliber teams you gain expirence for when you get to that point. But I understand where you are coming from but I still would not go against you all even if there was no chance of victory, but thats just what I was taught.

I 100% agree that tough schedules make for better teams, especially when it counts---Playoffs. I just hope that the team comes out much healthier than last year. No doubt without the key injuries last years team would have went a few more weeks in November. My point is do you get to a point when you have to draw a line with the schedules, the schedule no doubt helps in the end but I hope without any key injuries.

With the prediction on the game, I'm not going against you guys in any form or fashion. I'm just posting what I believe to be true and that is SW took a big hit with graduation. Yes I know that you guys reload, as do most great programs but I feel it will take a few weeks for the replacements to get to full speed. I hope that SW proves me very wrong....Go Warriors Beat Rockcastle Co. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

SWHS injuries occured in final District game with Pulaski Co. We lost two major players in that game and one in the very next game, Play-off, which was also against Pulaski Co. Our back-ups steped into those positions and battled State power Louisville Central to the final play(Dropped pass in endzone) thus giving LC the hard fought victory. My point being: PC played us 2 hard,smash-mouth football games ending their season. We did lose 3 outstanding players for the remainder of the season and that no doubt would have helped us to have them against LC, not losing them to any of the power- houses we play, but to a well coached and determined PC. That is why I say to not write of Coach Hines and the Maroons. They can play good ball, especially against hometown rival... Good luck to all our Kids here in Pulaski County/Somerset and lets get ready to RUMBLE at the Ray Correll Bowl on Aug 24th...:dancingpa

I hope SW does get it going early and Beat ROCK, I haven't ever like Rock and root against them whenever they come to town. I do feel they are a little better than SW and will win the game.

.....Princess, you said it so superbly...Had I said that, I would have been attacked from several fronts. Yes those Warriors are young , but a hard working, talented bunch of young Men. They will improve with experiece. As of right now, our overall numbers are down for one reason or another. I expect those numbers will improve after tomorrow. As I have said before, I expect the critical eyes to open up after a few games under our belt. Are we starting to feel the electricity in the air? Yes we are...;)

I don't know why you think you'd be attacked. No one has said anything derogatory about SW. You just asked for our opinions and we gave them--each Somerset poster said that they were rooting for you guys. You must have a very low opinion of Jumper fans if you think they would attack you just for giving your view on the Warriors.

Literally speaking my man. You Somerset posters know I am biased as you all are. I just feel that any time some of you SHS fans get a chance to slam ole Keemo you will and have, for reasons unknown to me other than I am a strong SWHS supporter. If you would really support us as you say you do, then why doesn't it show in the moral support. Everybody knows that it is going to be a hard fought game between the ROCK and SWHS. It always is. Yet you know our Kids personally and you talk them down in the sense that you all or most give the nod to our opposition instead of our neighborhood Kids. There is such a thing as Moral Support, and should be dislayed whenever we are going against any team outside our little town. Rockcastle are always tough and fan support goes along way with all...:thumb:

That is exactly what I was trying to get at Kemo thanks for making it more clear!

Seems to me you're just trying to stir the pot, I have said nothing negative about SW or PC as I support all of our local teams. For the last several years I have made it a point to go to SW's home scrimmage. Can't wait until Aug. 10th to watch you guys scrimmage Russell Co. As to moral support, if any of the SW players are reading this I hope that you light up Rockcastle Co. and beat them handily. Give it everything that you have, never give up. :thumb:

I just want to clear something up real fast. I mentioned earlier that Rockcastle "has not had a good track record" against SW. "The Voice of the Rockets" informed me that TO HIS KNOWLEDGE the Rock has only lost once in recent memory to SW. I guess the reason I thought this is because Home losses always linger longer

Kick off is a less than 30 days and boy are we feeling the love already here in Pulaski Co! :jump:

I like Southwestern in the Rock game, but know how tough it is going to be. The Warriors have some returning go to guys and some young guys stepping up, showing what they got. Most of what we need is some team work jelling. TT is demonstrating great leadership as are some others. Looking forward to their scrimmages to see how the TEAM works together.

Somerset should easily handle Pulaski, but you never know with cross town rivalries. I don't have a dog in that race and like each team equally.

GO WARRIORS:banana:

Actually going back on the scoreboards (1998 is as far as they go) the series is 3-2 in favor of Rockcastle. As a matter of fact most of the games have been blowouts in favor of one team or another with 4 shutouts.

2004 Southwestern 48 Rockcastle 0

2003 Rockcastle 14 Southwestern 0

2000 Rockcastle 43 Southwestern 0

1999 Southwestern 42 Rockcastle 13

1998 Rockcastle 28 Southwestern 0

Very unusual to have 4 shutouts in 5 games between two quality teams.

Thank-you for your supporting statement. I know the Kids that are reading these posts do too...:thumb: :D
