Same here. We had a couple of seniors quit early on but IMO they were the type of loses that only make your team better if you know what I mean.

Not so fast. I hear the Lundsford kid is struggling with an injury right now thats keeping him out of some practices. I watched one the other day and he wasnt as sharp as he usually is. But this game is about 4-5 weeks away im sure he'll be 100% by then.

Interesting... Any details on that Lundsford injury?

I hear its a minor injury. Maybe a groin im not certain. He can participate to an extent in practice but the coaches are being limiting as i believe they should be this early on.

I'm interested in who this punishing MLB for Ludlow is...

Hopefully he will be 100% by the game. :thumb:

I didnt make the statement about the "punishing middle linebacker" but i believe he is referring to senior Jake Helmer....????

I don't care who is on defense for Ludlow. Bird will rush for over a 100

is over 100 that good a game for him??? From the sound of things he should go for 200-250?? 100 and i give the credit to ludlows D....

The only team that he didn't get over 100 on was Danville. He averaged about 150 yd/game last year. In two games he did not play more than 1 quarter and in several others, did not play in much of the 2nd half.

This is the first game of the season. He will be hungry. I will say 200 yds, many due to the guy that will be blocking for him, Corey Jones, and the efforts of a strong offensive line.

Jake Helmer is Ludlows MLB. Last year while playing OLB he was injured and only played four games while recording 50+ taclkes and 3 forced fumbles.

I will defer that question to someone else, as I would be just a homer. I guess that I could give you the facts, though. 5'11, 190 lb., I believe he had 1200 yds as a sophomore and 1800 yds as a junior. You will have to ask your middle linebacker after he punishes him. :creepy:

Take it from a defeated opponent, Bird is the real deal. Ludlow's defense will have their hands full of him!!

I still look forward to the battle of Bird and Jake Helmer... Jake is truly fearless and I see this being a great battle the whole way.

Much better. :thumb:

From the sounds of it this game will come down to who is better conditioned... Bird's offense or Helmer's defense. I don't know how they condition down in Trimble but I know Borchers conditions the Panthers to death.

I have not seen Bird in better condition then he is right now. Coach Poynter knows how to get them in shape...and strong...that is for sure.

With that said, the Raiders have a few other weapons that will make deciding who to cover very difficult. WRs Jesse Peters and Larry Sullivan will make their share of catches and Bird's fellow RB Justin Hawkes can always be counted on to get the job done. Hawkes, just like his name implies, is deadly on defense, too.
