July 28, 200719 yr If two people click and fall in love,it doesn't matter. We all share this big ball in space. If some people don't like it,lump it. It's none of their business!!
July 28, 200719 yr I don't know, there is this cute Martian girl down the street... I hope she has a good personality!
July 28, 200719 yr Will you advise them to not engage in all bi-racial realationships or just black and white relationships? Not attacking you, I am just curious because as I stated earlier I have 1 nephew and 2 nieces that are bi-racial(half black & half white) and this topic comes up a lot. This next statement is not a direct response to Hearsay's post. it is a general response for everyone. When the topic of bi-racial relationships is brought up it is surpeising how many people that are against bi-racial relationships consider bi-racial as black and white. We have many different races in this country other than black and white: asian, middle eastern, native american, indian(from India), european and hispanic(there are more). Most people do not find it difficult to accept bi-racial relationships unless there is a black person involved. I think it is a bunch of crap. If you are against bi-racial relationships then you should be against all of them no matter the combination and if you are not and only have a problem with black and white or black and any other race relationship then you don't just disagree with bi-racial relationships, you are a racist! I have friends that have told me that they have a problem with Tiger Woods marrying a white woman. My first response is why, because he is black or because he is asian? Most of the time the asian part is never thought of. Anyway, I have no problem with people who have bi-racial relationships. However, I do agree with you hearsay. My wife and I have discussed this with our children(obviously bi-racial relationships are a part of our family tree) and we have made them aware of the problem children of bi-racial relationships can have along with problems them and their partner can have if they chose to have a bi-racial relationship. As parents who love our children we have advised them no to have bi-racial relationships because of the possible hardships that the ignorances of this country could cause them. But, like you Hearsay if they decide to have a relationship with someone who is of another race we will support them 100% and will love their partner as a member of our family. I can tell you right now that I think the WORLD of my nepew and nieces and would do anything in the world for them. I f any stupid ignorant person ever gave them a hard time because they were bi-racial or just because they are half black they would have a 6 foot 315lb former marine & football coach and most importantly their uncle raining down a world of hurt on them. Remeber, "God loves all the little children, all the children of the world: red, yellow, black and white they are precious in his sight". I did not say that I was against bi-racial relationships. I am not. But the world in many instances is. And, as Deuce mentioned, people's children suffer for it sometimes. I would not want my grandchildren to suffer. Therefore, I will advise my boys to strongly consider the ramifications of marrying and having children outside of their race. If their decision is educated, it will have my full blessing and support. I also did not identify black/white, or other types of racial bias, in my post. But now that I consider it, my feelings on the matter are primarily directed at black and white, because the world is primarily directed at black and white. I have seen very little bias against the children of white/hispanic, or white/asian, but a lot of bias against the children of black/white. Nowhere is it written that my opinion has to be uniform among the races. Since my opinion has nothing to do with the color of one's skin, I can tailor my opinion to the very dangers that this world poses for my grandchildren.
July 28, 200719 yr It seems to me that a lot of people in this thread are focusing upon themselves and a relationship with a person of a different race, and not enough on how the rest of the world is going to treat you, your children, etc. Its not so much how YOU feel, but about how OTHERS feel about YOU. We can deny it all we want, but all of us care how others think about us. Its why we wear certain clothes, drive certain cars, work at certain jobs, hang out with certain people. While we may all want to think that we are 'a breed apart' from common thinking, I'd be willing to bet a supermajority of us would choose not to ask a person of the opposite race out on a date if we knew that the Big Boss at our place of employment frowned upon it and that it would make it into his little mental file come promotion time. Let's face it, we're all more shallow then we want to admit.
July 28, 200719 yr When the topic of bi-racial relationships is brought up it is surpeising how many people that are against bi-racial relationships consider bi-racial as black and white. That's because people that are racist are IGNORANT, and don't think outside of their own little box...
July 28, 200719 yr This question was asked in the Religion section. Did the person asking the question want a bible answer or just people giving their insights? There is no mention of color/race in Heaven. When will be as one. I dated a young women from Tennessee.
July 28, 200719 yr That's because people that are racist are IGNORANT, and don't think outside of their own little box... You are 100% correct, Deuce. :thumb: Speaking of "boxes", let me fill you in on a little of what I grew up with as a hispanic/white child (born in 1974). As a child, I was called the "n" word, by both children and adults. When I was in high school, a guidance counselor told me to check the "white/caucasion" box on a college application, because, as he put it (in whispered tones), I could "pass for white" if I didn't tell people. I guess that I was supposed to deny my heritage and my father. I know that what I experienced is mild, but when you are talking about bi-racial children, unless you have experienced it, you could not imagine the feelings of not fitting in two different races of people. This may give others the image that bi-racial dating is bad, due to what stress it may cause on their children. I think that it may produce emotionally stronger children. Too many people today want to protect their children from everything - I have friends that don't let their 10 yro watch any TV that is not children's programming, amongst countless other things. As a result, we are creating children that will become fragil adults when they emerge in the real world. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that those that show bias (racism) toward others is actually teaching them a good lesson. I am saying that loving parents realize that their children will have to go through struggles to become stronger people. If two people love each other and are willing to nurture their children (which is what should be in all instances), color of the skin should not be anywhere on the list of considerations.

Hearsay, I in no way implied that you said you were against bi-racial relationships. i just posed a question to you of whether or not you would advise your boys against all bi-racial relationships or just those that were black and white. I was just curious in what you were thinking. Please go back and re-read my earlier post because that is what I said. Also, I thought I made it very clear that the second part of my post was not directed at you and I even agreed with your viewpoint of wanting to protect my granchildren from this cruel and unfair world when it comes to bi-racial relationships. I just connected the second part because of convienence and in hind-sight I should have just made a second post. I apoligize for the confusion and in no way did i mean to suggest that you were against bi-ratial relationships.

August 8, 200719 yr This discussion came up at work one day. A co-worker who had moved to this area from the Lexington area said she had grown up with bi-racial marriages and children and had no problem with it. She noted that this area didn't seem to accept it as readily. Also I know of a white man who married an asian woman. The family completely accepted this woman and treated her well. When the bi-racial daughter of this couple began dating a african american man, the whole family went bizirk. This girl has never gotten over the hurt and heartache from the family that had so readily accepted her for 20+ years, but couldn't accept her choice to date and marry an african american man. BTW, they have two ABSOLUTELY beautiful children!
August 8, 200719 yr I read an article somewhere this weekend talking about the increase in black women dating white men. The mindset of the women quoted is that the black men were either a)chasing the blonde white girl or b)not dependable.
