What is everyone thought's about Dating outside of your race?

 

Personally I have dated African American women and I believe it is hard to hide your heart when you have feelings for someone regardless of their race.

I have no problem with it. People that get caught up in that sort of thing REALLY need to reprioritize their life.

I think bi-racial children (black/white) have more problems with racial acceptance. They're often shunned by both Blacks and Whites.

Why should race have anything to do with who you date, fall in love with, and perhaps marry? People are people regardless of color. So, I really don't see the big issue. That being said, society still looks down on this and I do feel that the couple should consider the children that may result from this union . . . they are often they ones who suffer the most and they had no choice in the matter.

I have seen more issues with family members dating certain individuals WITHIN their own race more often than race causing an issue. Basically, there are caucasians that I pray my daughter does not want to date and be yoked to.

I can speak personally about this, as I am bi-racial. When I was younger, I had alot of trouble with this. I wasn't black enough for some of the black kids, and I certainly was too black to hang with some of the white kids. Im the type of person that I dont care what race you are, if I like you, I'll want to be your friend. I had the most trouble when it came to girlfriends, because I tend to date white females (don't know why, just do). Their dads didn't like the fact that their daughter was dating a "half-black" boy...It really used to hurt my feelings, but I got over that, and have since realized that I can't let other peoples stupidity and ignorance affect how I live my life.

My friends, who were African-American, were discussing the prejudices between African-Americans with darker pigmentation and those with lighter pigmentation. I was really floored by this. I've wondered how this plays into dating and marriage.

What a great testimony. This is why I will advise my sons to consider not engaging in a bi-racial relationship. The world is a bad place, and you can't control what people will think and do to your children. However, if they do (strongly consider the issue), and still elect the relationship, they will have my blessing and my love.

:thumb: I, too, am bi-racial (Hispanic/white) and have had my share of hurt from the words/actions of others. I have also learned similar lessons. It has just made me a stronger person.

I don't know that it's becoming more accepted, but it's just that people realize it's going to happen in Today's world...There are still people to this day that when Im with my mom (who is white), they will give us looks and stare us down. Of course this is mostly older people, but nevertheless, it isn't right.

I really don't think that children growing up TODAY will have it as bad as I did, or as other people my age did. That was in the late 80's, early 90's and I think it has faded away to some extent. Im know there are still people who disagree with it, but I don't think those opinions are voiced as much as they have been in the past.

I agree with you totally on this. It used to be alot of people only seen white women with African American men, but society is changing as you now are seeing more African American women dating white men.

 

IMO, two people (regardless of color) happy together with a family are no different than any other happy family. People talk about one race family just as much as a mixed race family.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I hardly ever see a black woman and a white man together. Maybe 1 couple for every 10 or more black male/white female couple I see.
