July 22, 200719 yr Uhhh...maybe it's because football is much preferred as a spectator sport regardless of gambling, etc. I'd much rather watch any decent football game, be it high school, college or NFL than I would basketball. I say again, the NBA has sucked since Bird and Magic. So, since they put a good product on the field people should ignore the rampant use of steroids, etc. Or do you believe all those lineman look that way because of rigid training?
July 22, 200719 yr I think you're being naive. Money talks. Money talks to Multi-Millionaires? There might be some reserve guys that MIGHT try it but they don't have enough impact on the game.
July 22, 200719 yr Money talks to Multi-Millionaires? There might be some reserve guys that MIGHT try it but they don't have enough impact on the game. Can you use that argument to defend the 130 million dollar man - Mike Vick?
July 22, 200719 yr Can you use that argument to defend the 130 million dollar man - Mike Vick? That was for monetary gain. That was a street creed thing. He was just keepin it real homie.
July 22, 200719 yr Can you use that argument to defend the 130 million dollar man - Mike Vick? Vick suffers from stupidity, end of story.
July 22, 200719 yr Vick suffers from stupidity, end of story. He is eventually going to suffer from dropping the soap. I think he is a pathetic excuse and I don't care if he is from the South or not.
July 22, 200719 yr Can't say I agree with all the NBA bashing on here. The NBA has no more problems than the MLB or NFL. In fact, when speaking of a "National Bum League", I think the NFL could fall into the same category. It's just this nation's blind love affair with the NFL that saves it from having a terrible public image. I didn't say that the others didn't have problems, they all do. As for all pro sports, I would take any NCAA sport over the same sport in the pro's at anytime. No question.
July 23, 200719 yr Sports Guy chimes in with his thoughts. He is spot on. The NBA needed a wake-up call and this could be it... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070722
July 23, 200719 yr So, since they put a good product on the field people should ignore the rampant use of steroids, etc. Or do you believe all those lineman look that way because of rigid training? Didn't say anything about ignoring it. To the contrary, the NFL has done more than any other pro league to address the issue. Guys get bounced for pot, coke, steroids, etc. Ricky Williams ring any bells??? How many NBA guys have been busted for marijuana and the league did NOTHING? At one point, they didn't even include it in their excuse for drug testing. Please come with a better arguement than this when trying to defend the NBA.
July 23, 200719 yr Dude is in waaaaaaay over his head- http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AtYrPLOzRu2sUBgVE_9I48I5nYcB?slug=ap-bettingprobe&prov=ap&type=lgns
July 24, 200719 yr I am really surprised this thread isn't 5 pages by now. No one seems to care, but this could be the biggest sports story so far this century.
