STRIKE3
I hope this story, has no merit. Here is a link..... http://www.nypost.com/seven/07202007/news/columnists/nba_in_a_fix_columnists_murray_weiss.htm "These are dangerous people [the referee] was involved with," a source said. gchs_uk9
I wouldn't be surprised. I think these rumors have floated around NBA circles for some time.
STRIKE3
It's hard for me to understand, how a non-player, can affect the scoring margin of the game. Whistle stoppages, result often in foul shots and that is out of the control, of the Ref.

I think a referee (or umpire) could have a major say in the outcome of a game.
UKPat02
I'll bet David Stern is livid. This is major...

Pat Dad
These aligations have been around for awhile. Interesting story and it looks like no sport is without it's troubles, on and off the playing surface.
cvillecat
If I were the ref involved I would be worried about Tony Soprano showing up at my front door. David Stern may be his lifeline.

gchs_uk9
If this ends up being true, it could ruin the NBA forever. I think there are only about 15 people in the world who don't think it was already ruined.
UKMustangFan
I think there are only about 15 people in the world who don't think it was already ruined. Maybe in this area, but in the cities where NBA franchises are, it's still a very popular league. Fans have always complained about how refs give special treatment to certain players and teams, if this proves to be true, it's going to be extremely difficult for the NBA to overcome. Wireman
I have often wondered about this type of thing and most often just wrote it off as "I've watched too many movies...", but now... This might explain some of the crazy scenarios that have forced me to lose money I should've won on games.
