Would not the fact they live hours away and their dad got a job in the new district satisfy that requirement?

I would think that it would but it is the KHSAA!

^ Is her last name Salyers?

I don't know the name of the mystery player, but it is not Salyers.

Is the mystery player eligible? How can we answer that question, without knowing the circumstances of the family’s move to NKy?

Let’s assume the Mystery Parents are following the rules. If they have legitimate reasons the transfer is late, I believe the KHSAA will rule eligible.

The transfer is legit. The players father was just offered the job this week. The family still has to make a house hunting trip and compare the cost of living. The player wants to attend Conner and at this point the parents dont even know what neighborhoods are in that area. If transferring is an issue I would suspect the father to live in northern kentucky and the rest of the family to stay put. I know the family does not want that to happen but they also do not want their child to have to sit out a year. I think the parents wish all of this would have happened over the summer while there was more time but you never know when opportunity will knock. In the end the player will play at her current school or Conner provided she cam make Conner's team after the transfer.

This is an interesting string of events; father just offered the job last week (not sure if has accepted from what has been written), it is one of those opportunities that knock but the family is still comparing costs of living to apparently wherever they are coming from and they don't even know what neighborhoods are available in the area. With all that being said, the family/player wants to attend Conner and there is discussion in this thread about her eligibility. Maybe it is just me but it all seems kind of strange, almost a cart and horse kind of thing.

If I were to uproot my family and move to a different area of the state for a "better job opportunity", I would likely not narrow my choice down to one neighborhood in a community but would look around the entire community; i.e. in Northern Kentucky you have Hebron, Florence, Walton, Alexandria, Independence etc. You can get from anywhere to everywhere in Northern Kentucky in 20 minutes.

Not saying this is the case here, but I am always amazed at the stories you hear where a parent wanting a player to go to a certain school to be on a team precipitates some of these moves. It seems like every year some athlete's family moves so they can be closer to work, better opportunity for education opportunities etc. Amazing

Ranger - the fact that they've zeroed in on one school is irrelevant IMO. Many people move to an area based of a school. Nothing new.

The KHSAA would have a rough time denying this girl the right to play immediately assuming what we've read is true - even if they only want to go to Conner - a fine school I must say.

Yes it is a fine school!

There is other schools out there and it does not matter what neighborhood you live in.:thumb:

I can guarantee there is no funny business going on here. The move is several hours away and the main reason I believe they like Conner is test scores and elementary and middle schools for there younger kids. This would not even be a topic anywhere if the job opportunity would have happened over the summer. Parents move for higher paying jobs and better opportunities all the time it just so happens that they have a daughter that is a very good post player and that makes for wrinkles.

OBC…If all of the rules are followed then the kid should be ruled eligible. For some reason you seem to feel the need to justify their move when it’s not a big deal. Get a job, “buy” a house, transfer…play ball! If you are close to this situation, and it sounds like you are, then share with the family that CATS scores were higher at New Haven, Grey, and Ryle…also, Ockerman elementary, Ockerman Middle, and Boone. Comparing the success of Bball programs and head coaches is an absolute no-brainer so no need to go there. Bottom line…If they feel good about the situation and it gives them a better life…that’s all that matters…

To be honest…I really thought it was the Salyers girl because I heard they wanted to move to BC last year. She seems like a nice kid and “If” it would have been her it would have worked out X’tremely well for their family…1) Father getting a better career opportunity in NKY 2) go to a school with one of her best friends 3) live near AAU teammates and coaches. IBALL is in position to know if it were her, and would never sandbag, so I guess we’ll wait until OBC lets the Ole’ cat out of the bag.

BTW…If a kid is ruled eligible I challenge you to name one HS program that will tell a strong 6’1” post player…”sorry, you didn’t make the team…try again next year”. (Cracks me up that you even said that in another post!!)

If the education is so important why not move to Ft. Mitchell. I guarantee their test scores run much higher than all the above mentioned since they were the #1 scoring school in the state. Can you imagine Beechwood getting a 6'1" bball player and it be a girl.

I personally have no idea who the "mystery" player is , but as of Sunday , the Salyer family has had no new opportunities to move to the NKY area, or they are keeping it a really, really big secret !!:creepy:

The only reason that I made the statement is they will not be moved by October 15th. You never know about coachs and programs and parents and what kind of trouble this could cause then again you are probably right and it will be no big deal.

This family can move to Ft Mitchell any time they want during the bball season. I will guarantee her a spot on the team.

OBC, be serious. If the girl can play as you say she can, what coach in their right mind would not allow her on the team as long as she is cleared to play? I admit it could ruffle a few feathers w/some on the team but let's face it, all parents want to win and if they say different they are'nt tellling the truth.
