August 20, 200719 yr Author My bad. Your suggestions led me to believe that you had your own idea of how to proceed. I'm of the belief that in the NL Central, the Reds can compete next year. I'm fine with the rotation I mentioned previously - Harang, Bronson, Homer (he will be on the roster next year), Livingston, and Cueto. I'm fine with the core of the offense. In my world, I'd move BP to SS and put Kepp at F4. I'd keep Hatteburg unless I know for sure Votto can play at the MLB level. I'd move Gonzalez if at all possble. I'd cut Castro. I'd think about trading Freel to free up money. I'd cut Stanton to free up $3M. Shoring up the bullpen is the challenge. I'd move Belisle to the bullpen. Good stuff for an inning or two. I still like the Lizard as middle reliever. He pitched well against the Brew Crew on Saturday. Dumatrait - maybe the lefty out of the pen. Without knowing what relievers will be available, I'm going to assume that some will be that could fill in a niche. Closing the gap on the run differential is the key. You can't give up lots of offense if you don't have the funds to step up big time for 2 starting pitchers or a stud reliever. With the limited budget the Reds are working with, reconfiguring the bullpen is the key. Guess the Reds need to figure out where they want to spend the bucks. That is the main reason management has to be very savy with every move they make. Do you keep the bats, or do you get some pitching? With the bats being cheaper than the arms, its a tough prospect. They just can't afford to make a bad deal or decision like some of the ones they have made. If they're not 100% accurate in talent assessment and who to spend money on they're sunk. I really don't want to reply with an I told you so next year. So heres hoping I'm wrong.

August 20, 200719 yr :confused: At first I thought they either traded E-5 or he was hurt and going to the DL. Guess it was a managers decision to give Belhorn a rare start. E-5 is a career 1-6 against Hudson and hasn't swung the bat well at all over the last 10 days or so...
