Reds climbed back to a 5-5 tie, homers by Dunn and Phillips.

Bottom of 7th.

Reds up 7-6. Was that Burton in the 8th? I missed it

They can hit, just little starting pitching and not much middle relief.

Yesterday LOB 13! I guess the hits just aren't timely

Reds win 7-6, and win series against the Cubs and Brewers on the road trip.

Hamilton's at-bat was pathetic.

If he never sees Shouse again, it will be too soon for him.

Great win today. Great road trip.

Dunner: Not exactly a HOF running exhibition in the 8th but lets look at the big picture. Down 5-0 with no momentum and he goes yard for 2 runs. Huge momentum builder against a pitcher who had it going despite having 10 straight bad performances. He then gets on base (name of the game if you're trying to score runs) in the 8th and scores again.

All in all a very good day for #44.

How much payroll is freed up this year for next?

10M from Milton

3M from Stanton (no way he comes back)

2M for Conine (retiring I would presume)

.5M for Eddie G.

1M for Castro

2M for Freel maybe

Can you fix your pitching staff with the money left over after Dunn gets $3M more and, I'm presuming, some guys get raises?

Awhile back, someone posted a link to an article that as best as I can remember showed nothing left after Milton's money is spread out to the current players due to various contractual raises over this year's salary.

My answer is a simple no.

If you only have 12-15M available for next year they're in trouble IMO. They need to sign a solid starter, and a couple solid bullpen arms, and you can't do that for only 4-5M a person.

Dunn or Griffey have to go next year for them to have a shot IMO.

Keppinger gets 3 more hits today. How many games or AB's does he have to have before we can just expect him to play 150 games and hit .330 or higher next year?

Here's an interesting link for those interested to see how much is already tied in salaries for next year...

http://www.redsinsite.com/playerinfo/salary_chart.php

It will show you how much they are paying this season and you can change the date at the top of the page to see next year...
