June 28, 200719 yr Promoting universal healthcare is un-American. It is the difference in class that makes this country what it is. The haves give the have-nots, like myself, something to shoot for. The have-nots show the haves that they should be thankful for what they have. The idea of having a job w/ a good health care benefit package motivates me to work harder. If my company said they would be changing their benefits and doing away w/ health insurance, I would change jobs immediately. Universal health care sounds all warm and fuzzy, but it is just a step closer to socialism. I think you may want to reconsider whether you're a have or have-not, in terms of healthcare. The have-nots are people who work full time, and still can't afford healthcare coverage because of the high cost many employers must pass on to their employees. They're single parents, or married couples in lower (not to be confused with minimum wage) paying jobs. They're the "working poor". There are provisions for those at or below the poverty line, and most who are middle- to upper-middle income can afford coverage of some sort. But, there is a significant, growing percentage of the lower-middle-class who are squeezed out.
June 28, 200719 yr I'll say the same thing about Moore as I said in the Rosie thread: Why get so worked up about him? Why not just ignore him? It's folks like you guys whose outrage helped the 2 Live Crew sell two million copies of their album. You mean it wasn't the superb and superior musicianship...? :walk:
June 28, 200719 yr Take a moment and enjoy the irony, folks, it is priceless. :sssh: You are the BGP king of spouting off about everything you don't like from our cars to our choice in music to us just being pathetic sheep, herded up and led around by corporate magnates. Yet, and let me get this straight, you are now lecturing us that it is a waste of our time and energy to express displeasure about something or someone we don't like? Rather, "why not just ignore him?" To quote Slim Pickens "That is a e-nuke idea." Hey, in my defense, I've tried to be a lot better about blasting others for listening to crummy music — recent months of research would reveal a far less vitriolic Jim Schue when it comes to matters of music. And usually, when I am hypercritical (is it still a fault if you acknowledge and admit it???? ) about music, it's because I know there's better stuff out there than what folks are settling for. I'm at least trying to offer solutions … But with you guys and Moore and Rosie, it's like you're a bunch of masochists who can't get enough of the pain, and seem to enjoy having them around as a lightning rod for your criticism. With me, I just want the things I'm hypercritical about to just go away. The world is a better place without clowns like Garth Brooks soiling the airwaves.
June 28, 200719 yr Trust me, I would love it if Moore, Rosie, Coulter and many others would just go away. Nothing would make me happier. I don't know if it is still a fault or not, but admitting a problem is the first step to recovery. Or so I'm told.
June 28, 200719 yr   Schue.....I have no Idea what you are trying to say with this last post and frankly don't think that I want to . It has went from Rosie and Moore and your comment/opinions on posters comments on that subject to music  then to so called masochist, back to to Rosie and Moore then return to music again........................ and just how the heck did Garth Brooks enter into it ??? I think that you are even confusing yourself with this one :scared: .

I took the time to bold my two favorite lines. Personally, I enjoy Jim's vitriolic diatribes concerning music (as long as my favorites are not mentioned).

June 28, 200719 yr oops, apparently the picture I posted of Stephen King's Book "IT" has been corrupted.
July 9, 200719 yr He was just on the Situation room on CNN, he is a headcase! He just wanted to argue without making explanations or showing where he is right and others are wrong, he just wanted to continue to argue and blow his own horn saying how he is right, just as he was right about Iraq a few years ago. So self centered. Wolf Blitzer did a good job at keeping his cool and shrugging everything off, I just wish he would have been on Glen Beck instead, lol.
July 10, 200719 yr I saw nothing un-American or asking for handouts. I did hear some alarming news about our health care system compared to others around the world! Maybe you should put aside your political views and look at what he is trying to say. The healthcare system in this country is horrible! Our health care system is the best in the world, bar none. Now how people go about paying for such things like insurance and so forth can be debated, but ours is the best. People come from all over the world to get surgeries done in the United States. Research and technology in our country is out of this world. Think of all the surgeries and medicines that are out there now that weren't available to people years ago. Heart surgeries rarely require a sternumectomy...take a pill to reduce cholesterol....how many new pills or surgeries have the Canadians contributed to the medical society?
July 10, 200719 yr Our health care system is the best in the world, bar none. Not close, by any measure out there. Oh yeah, and Moore is an idiot.
