All In
Anyone think teachers and other staff should have surprise raids done on them at school like the students? All things seem to be done on the inside, whether it be at school, a doctor to the school, etc. Are school nurses, cafeteria workers, etc. monitored or drug tested on a consistent basis? What about teachers and other school administration? Think people in all school systems would be shocked at the outcome of tests and surprise visits, if they weren't tipped off to such things happening. steelcurtain
Yeah , If every other job in the world gets surprise raids and testing. Our school already has a drug testing policy for the faculty, but it won't effect 99.9 percent of the staff because they don't do, affiliate and or deal drugs in the school system. So yeah surprise raids on the teachers is just another thing we should subject them to instead of letting them do their jobs. :madman:

Sting
Shouldn't be, but. No disrespect intended, I just didn't know that this was an issue in the schools. Is this prevalent?
C-A-T-S
As I will be a teacher this time next year, I would be a little offended if I got tested like the students do, Because I for one have never done a drug and never intend to...NO, they should not check teachers unless there is a valid reason... Birdsfan
Is this prevalent? No. If it exists at all, it's an extremely isolated incident. To treat teaching professionals like that would be horribly offensive...not to mention, unproductive.

Drug testing is wide spread across the nation in many types of businesses. Should teachers be exempt?

Birdsfan
Before we make a turn toward the issue of mandatory drug testing, this was the original question: "Anyone think teachers and other staff should have surprise raids done on them at school like the students?" Thats great you haven't done a drug in your life. Very naive to think the whole teaching community is drug free. Teachers are in contact with the youth of America on a daily basis, so we just hope that my kids teachers aren't doing drugs? Many people with less impactful jobs are drug tested everyday. Why should teachers get a free pass?

But the student who has never done a drug and never intends to should be subjected to the random testings? If it happens at all, it's happening too much. I get drug tested at work... I understand the reasons and accept it.
gchs_uk9
I'm a teacher and I voted in favor of drug testing for teachers last year. They've never tested us (to my knowledge), but I think they should. What would it hurt? If you haven't done anything wrong, all you're doing is leaking into a cup. And don't give me this "violation of privacy" non-sense that some teachers throw out; we're in charge of 100+ students every day of the year. We should be responsible for our actions and should be drug free. I don't think drugs/teachers is a problem, but I do recommend testing regulary, just to be sure. Birdsfan
Again, I'll emphasize that "drug testing" and "involuntary searches" are two very different animals!

C-A-T-S, however, said he would be offended if he was tested like the students were. *C-A-T-S, if you're not a "he", then I apologize.
