Oct 20th looks to be a pretty good day for rivarly games. Notre Dame will also host USC that day. Which is another example of an athletic department acting in what they feel is in the best interest of their school. Notre Dame would like to play USC in their final game each year, and does so only if the game is in Southern California. USC will not play in South Bend past the middle of October.

Does it seem logical to compare ND USC and UofL vs UK?

The comparrison is that in both cases the athletic departments feel that it would be of benefit to them to play a particular game at a particular point in the season.

 

But I guess since historically UK has been less than successful, they should let UL tell them when is best for them to play, seeing how UL is a national power and all.

 

So basically what your saying is that since USC is good it is ok for them to be afraid to come play a football game in winter, but since UK its terrible that they are not supposed to make decisions that they feel are for the good of their program.

 

One minute UK gets criticised for being content with losing, yet when they do what they feel is best for the program they still get criticised.

I'm saying it doesn't hurt the USC-ND rivalry for the game to be moved. The game is on National TV regardless if they went up against the Super Bowl.

They are not for sure picking it up, and very few people have access to ESPN Classic or ESPN U for that matter, althought more people have ESPNU then Classic. Even still if ESPN Classic does pick it up then I will pipe down on this( I will still think it was a bad move considering it would have been on regular cable if it had not changed but I will pipe down) but as of yet that hasn't happened.

Not only that, but every sports bar I've ever been to has ESPN Classic....

I was very disappointed when I heard the game might not be televised,but after reading these posts it's dawned on me that if not televising the game can get this many U of L fans in such a tizzy, it might just be worth it

And UK's AD didn't really want the basketball game changed either....Of course the other school's AD isn't going to like it....

What percentage of Kentuckians that have Direct TV or the Insight sports package? I think it is significantly less then the number of people that have ESPN and ESPN2. I would imagine that on this site where people pay to talk about sport online that there would be a much higher percentage, but overall this would make it harder for the casual sports family to watch the big game. But again if ESPN Classic picks up the game that would at least be something, thus far they have not.
