Do you boo players or the coaching staffs

Featured Replies

I probably have when they've done something boneheaded on the field or called a really stupid play.

Play calling (coaching) or a game mistake (like a fumble or an interception) is not "BOO worthy". However, classless acts by a coach or a player is in my mind worth a boo-hiss from the bleachers. Mind you, the response does not need to be equal or greater than the idiodic act, but sitting quietly after a goof pulls a stunt is probably not gonna happen in my book.

this is very similar to my thoughts other than I NEVER think the HS player should be chastised verbally by anyone other than their own coach. I cannot stand seeing adults verbally criticizing HS kids regardless of what transpired-they should have to answer to their coach and any reputable one will deal with it appropriately.

A playoff game the Tigers were involved in a few years back immediately came to my mind where a particular player REPEATEDLY was flagged for cheap shotting/dirty play and obviously his coach was condoning it because he did not remove the player from the game. The game was completely out of reach on the scoreboard and I felt the coach should have been ejected/boo'd/tar & feathered etc. I know I would have liked to have had a few choice moments alone with him after the game to show my displeasure. Fortunately, the coach has left the state-unfortunately, he apparently is still coaching kids in another.

I boo-ed last year when in a late season home game, late in a game that HHS had solidly put away, Dale didn't throw a "pop" pass to Koop for the score. HHS was 1st and goal and he wasn't going to "take a knee", and Koop being a senior who moved to TE from OT to assist the running game would have achieved the "lineman's dream" of getting the end zone! Of course, the booing ws probably obscured by the chants of KOOOOOOOOOOO-P !! (lol)

...oops! I also boo-ed when HHS wouldn't kick deep to CovCath...thus instantly giving them FG range with Popham!

Would never boo a player. I have seen players that have been out there show boating and not thinking about the entire team. I have voiced my opinion such as you do have 10 other players out there. I have had said oh now come on "blue" at times. Truely why would you boo a player if the coaches are calling the plays. A player can have a terrible game but is it not up to the professionals to pull him out? Calling the same play over and over or having the quarterback throw to the same person that is not catching the ball. Where does fault lie and should we be the blamers? I usually sit there and end with good game. Its safer and keeps an old man out of trouble.

If this is confessions I have said a couple of Good Griefs.

Never ever ever!!!!.....now I have maybe twice during a college game.

Never should be done, at any High School sporting event....Never.

No booing the coaches or players. I will from time to time boo the refs when they really mess things up. If I see Ivan going nuts on the ref I usually jump on the band wagon.

I guess I'm the only imperfect (or honest) one.

I never boo on the hs level. I do chear my team on. I have in the past applauded a sensational play by the opposition. I save my boo's for the pros...

Booing a high school or college player is the most disrespectful thing anyone can do and should never happen.

I guess I'm the only imperfect (or honest) one.

Honest? Yes you are. Maybe I just don't listen closely enough. Lets say a player makes a bad hit on another player. I think the booing you hear is that the ref failed to throw a flagg. Once the flagg comes out the boos usually go away. I don't think the booing is directed at the players. Of course i have only sat on Russells side line. So others teams may boo away at the players and coaches.

Jeepman I think you are right. I have been on Ashland, Raceland, Russell and Boyds sideline what you are describing is what I usually see. A no call boo.

Thats about it.

Once you have a child of your own, I don't see how you could boo or talk bad about another kid.

Unfortunately, it is a sport at our school. Kids are booed, coaches are booed. My son has had things yelled at him from the stands and sidelines.

All classless cowards! If you are that unhappy, don't come 'cause you are a disgrace to the school and to the scholar athletes on the field.

... I feel much better now.
