I don't on any level.I will say my thoughts on things but I won't boo especially since the players can out play me and the coaching staffs have forgotten more ball then I ever knew.

I may have expressed my displeasure at a play call every now and then, but it was more of a "What the heck was that?" than anything else. That's as close as I get to that though.

Boo players, never. What's the point, nothing is gained by booing. Why step down to the level of the player, you would like to boo?

I coach at Frankfort and we have a handful of parents who think it is their right to boo players and coaches. Coaches get paid, so that's no big deal, but booing palyers is another thing. What people don't realize is it only takes a few to make your entire fan base look bad. We've got several who's kids have graduated and they still come mainly to boo the coaching staff.

Booing a coach is bad enough but to boo a h.s. kid is inexcusable! That act tells one a lot more about the so called fan that booed than it does the player.

Im the same way. Never boo'ed them but like you said voiced displeasure.

Never boo a H.S. or College player. Problem with booing a coach is that can the players tell who it is you are directing your displeasure towards?

 

I did one time, in one of my son's basketball games, announce my displeasure with the coach's play calling. It was one of those moments when the whole gym went quite and I happend to be sitting a couple of rows behind the bench. It was toward the end of the 1st Qtr and our team trailing did not get a shot off in the last 30-40 seconds. Did not even look like they attempted to get a shot off. As the teams were heading to their benches, I blurted out "Nice play calling" and it was heard by the entire coaching staff. They all looked my way and I was immediately embarrassed.

 

Ironically at the season ending banquet, the coach told that story to everyone and said that he thought about what I had said and made up his mind that I had been right. He commented that at that moment he made a concious decision to never let something like that happen again. It was kind of funny, because I know nothing about basketball coaching and he was giving me credit for helping him realize he messed up.

 

I have been a coach and can take the criticism on just about any subject except playing time. I think HS coaches are to be commended for all their efforts and therefore would not boo him or her.

Play calling (coaching) or a game mistake (like a fumble or an interception) is not "BOO worthy". However, classless acts by a coach or a player is in my mind worth a boo-hiss from the bleachers. Mind you, the response does not need to be equal or greater than the idiodic act, but sitting quietly after a goof pulls a stunt is probably not gonna happen in my book.

I boo refs, and that's it, and only if I legitimately think they made a bad call.

Once you have been a coach and been on both sides of the winning championships and having a bad season you learn to filter out many comments by the fans. Kids should never be booed.

I Boo the refs when they need it. I Boo the opposing Coach(es) when they veer left of center. But I never or would ever Boo the Kids...:thumb:

:thumb: I have been in the exact situations (former coach). What gets me is some of these that yell out their frustrations take in no consideration of what these kids are doing (or not doing) in practice. All they see are the games. Coaches should know and do know their team better than anyone and the attitudes (good and bad), work ethic (good and bad), skills (good and bad), etc.. Imo some that want to yell and boo may need to take this into considersation. I have voiced frustrations and concerns myself but there is a right and a wrong way to do it. People need to take their concerns to the person/coach themselves and not make a spectacle of themselves in public over it. I can assure you that their concerns / questions will be taken much better and explained more if it is done in a class / adult way.
