June 11, 200719 yr The Suns are looking to dump salary and picks. New Phoenix president of basketball operations and general manager Steve Kerr has the No. 24, No. 29, and No. 59 picks. One of the scenarios raised by the executive had Shawn Marion and the $33.6 million and two years remaining on his contract headed to Boston for the No. 5 pick and Theo Ratliff, who has one year remaining worth $11.7 million. - RealGm.com Good move for Kerr?
June 11, 200719 yr I think that's a much better deal for Boston then it would be for Phoenix. Marion does it all and they would definitely miss him next season...
June 11, 200719 yr I think that's a much better deal for Boston then it would be for Phoenix. Marion does it all and they would definitely miss him next season... Marion is the dream player for a team. Great defensively, athletic, and can score very well. Pheonix and their run-n-gun offense would miss him a lot. What would they use that 5th pick on do you think?
June 11, 200719 yr Marion is the dream player for a team. Great defensively, athletic, and can score very well. Pheonix and their run-n-gun offense would miss him a lot. What would they use that 5th pick on do you think? I'm not sure who they would want to go with. But I bet it would be quite some time before they get that player to produce like Marion can. I guess if they're in it for the long run it might make sense but it would definitely put a HUGE damper on the team for the next few seasons imo and they can kiss their shot at the finals goodbye unless they make some more moves in the off-season.
June 11, 200719 yr Boston would have to throw in another player... Delonte West fits the bill... A starting lineup of Rondo-Allen-Pierce-Marion-Jefferson with Gerald Green and Wally Z coming off the bench could be very successful in that joke of a conference and even more of a joke of a divison.
June 11, 200719 yr I think the #5 pick would be better for the Celtics in the long run than Marion. Not convinced he can carry the load as the go to guy and the Celts need another go to guy.
June 11, 200719 yr It is a good idea for the Celtics and not so much for the Suns. Like I have said before, they were a Robert Horry hip check from beating the Spurs and more than likely being in the Finals. If the Suns can't make it to the finals next season, then I would say it be a good idea to shake up the team. Maybe they could package those draft picks and bring in another big man to help Amare out and let him play his natural position at the 4. I would assume that the Blazers will take Oden #1 in the draft so I'm sure they would be willing to part ways with a Jamaal Magloire or Joel Pryzbilla for 3 more draft picks!
June 11, 200719 yr Apparently they need something else because they aren't winning in the postseason when it counts. Is it a good move? Probably not, but will it happen? I doubt it!
June 11, 200719 yr I wouldnt want to go...no matter how much they pay me. Boston is a career ending team.
June 11, 200719 yr I don't think this would be that bad of a move for the Suns...the 5th pick in this draft is going to be a pretty good one, IMO, and while Marion is certainly a very good player, he isn't the type of player you can't live without. Phoenix alreayd has Nash and Stoudemire as their top 2 guys...with the 5th pick they could potentially add a great NBA player for years to come with the depth that is in this draft. I'd make this move if I were Phoenix.
