Marion to Boston?

Featured Replies

Brandon Wright would probably be on the board at the 5th pick.

The Celtics main problem is that they have too many young players, taking another one who isn't going to be a franchise guy isn't going to help them.

I'm torn on this one....I really like Marion, and would love to see him and the Suns make the Finals, but it seems like they are just one piece away. The past couple years defense has been their downfall in the playoffs....Marion is one of their best defensive players, so it wouldn't be that great of a move from that aspect. On the plus side, someone like Yi Jilian(sp?), Brandon Wright, or even a Corey Brewer would propbably be available at the 5 spot. Also potential cap space could be used for a solid FA or two.

Hey LBBC Celtics have Paul Pierce..

I like the idea for the Celtics..

Anymore you have to have two guys. Celtics have one and need another. Marion is not that player. Great role player but not a go to guy.

Spurs have 3 in Duncan, Parker and Ginoboli.

Cavs are missing one and Pierce is no Lebron who can do it on his own.

Heat had Wade and Shaq and with Wade hurt this year, they faltered.

Lakers only have Kobe as Odem did not turn out to be that 2nd guy.

and so on and so on.

When you are as bad as the Celtics are you will take a Shawn Marion.

Not for the #5 pick. Would you take Shawn Marion for a Brandan Wright? Which of the two have the greatest upside?

S.M. is a great player with a bad contract.

ESPN rumors say that the Bulls would be a good fit for Marion!

This would be good for both teams. Maybe it could look a little something like this

Celtics get Marion, the 24th pick, the 29th pick.

Suns get Ratliff, the 5th pick, Delonte West.

Something like that would be beneficial and fairly even for both sides. The Suns could use that 5th pick for Brandon Wright or Corey Brewer. They also get a defensive minded center and can move Amare to the 4, which would be better for them in the Strong West. I say Brewer would be an excellent choice for that system, he's long, explosive, and plays D. While the Celtics would still stay young by getting two first round picks and an All-Star that can complement Paul Pierce. Boston would immediatley become a contender in the Atlantic Division. Phoenix would become better Defensively on the interior and still have enough fire power to outscore opponents.

I think Julian Wright is a perfect fit in Phoenix. I'd make the move and take him or Brewer. I highly doubt Brandon Wright is on the board at 5.....

I'm not a huge fan of Marion...

:thumb: I do it if I am Phoenix. Marion's abilities are blown way out of proportion because of Nash.

He was an all-star before Nash came.

He'll most likely go 3 or 4. Brewer or Julian would fit better the Brandon anyway.

I agree on all points... ;)

I like Marion's game, fits well in the Phoenix gameplan. 20/10 with high energy, I could possibly see Brewer in the valley of the Sun.
