It's the offseason ... fans have to have something to bicker about.

Besides, it's a topic worthy of debate ...

Oh, all right if it makes you happy Male you can have 3rd place, Manual 4th place ;)

Well, if building a 3,000 square weightroom for the future of the program which needed money for it doesn't show you how that game helped the program I don't know what does. Dunbar would have gotten 1500 dollars for the bowl game and that money is gone on transportation alone not counting the food the kids eat before the game.

They got a home game where they cleared over 5 grand not counting concessions which went into to pay for the new weightroom.

Dunbar would have played anyone at home to get the weightroom pot going and too get a win under there build, no different then college teams do. Don't play your toughest game the first of the season. That idea is not new.

So Dunbar belongs the UK school of scheduling.

I've really got to tell you that as a Tinity fan I'm really looking forward to the Dunbar game this year.

In all honesty, what is the most intriguing part? Honest question here don't yell at me :thumb:

I don't doubt it, but it would be nice to see the poster I referred to actually do some research to support his argument instead of just spouting off his opinions.

See, it's true. Why do the research when everyone knows it's true? Maybe someone else should do some research.

Well, maybe the thread should have been titled "the best of Louisville."

There is one poster on here that insists that Trinity is the only program in Louisville that is regularly better than the Lexington schools ... that simply isn't the case. St. Xavier and Male are in many years, and Manual (and maybe PRP very soon) is on a par with them.

I don't see the "divide and conquer strategy" ... the reasonable posters here are simply expressing well-reasoned opinions.

No. Please stop including Manual and PRP. Trinity as I will state again, is not the only program that is better than Lexington, but the only one to consistently prove they are better than Lexington. But hey, lets sooth ourselves by attacking Lexington not being better than Louisville because we in Louisville with the exception of a X or Male aren't doing anything and are grouping ourselves with T, X, and Male, but not competing on even the regional level.

Trinity is the only one that gets the chance to consistently prove it. Because they do it so regularly, the other side of Louisville doesn't enjoy the same opportunity.

Manual and PRP, to a lesser extent, have shown themselves to be competitive with the top teams in 4A. In a given year, they're playing (at least) on the same general level as most or all the Lexington schools.

Maybe it's true. Maybe it isn't. But until you quit making provocative statements without offering any evidence to support them, your credibility is suspect.

I've offered some evidence to back up my position. You haven't.

Here's a brief comparison with Manual to the Lexington-area schools, using scores of games with common opponents:

2006

Trinity 28, Manual 3

Trinity 56, Manual 35

2005

Trinity 38, Manual 34

Trinity 41, Henry Clay 20

2004

St. Xavier 28, Manual 14

St. Xavier 49, Scott County 9

Oh, yeah ... Manual wouldn't be competitive with the best in Lexington. The above scores seem to indicate otherwise.

I agree that you make some good points but here is one for the other side.

2005

St. X 28, PRP 21

Male 42, PRP 35

Dunbar 38, PRP 28

and as Ram pointed out earlier Henry Clay beat Dunbar pretty badly in the regional championship game.

An 11 point swing in two games, and we're talking about how X has dominated the last 4 years, winning three out of four titles and beating Trinity by a combined 123-92. The past 3 years of the series has it at 2-2, with X outscoring T 90-58.

Come on Buddy. You're better than that.

Look how easy it is to do these what if games:

2005: John Hardin catches the 2 point conversion with under a minute to go to beat X 22-21.

2003: Warren Central doesn't fumble on the goal line with under a minute to go and wins 16-13.

What we do know is Trinity has as many titles as X and Male COMBINED.

As to the Manual games, I don't think that is quite fair. Trinity normally plays Manual week 2 or 3. But for the 2002 Trinity team, Beatty's teams always seem to start off very slowly. By playoff time, they are the best team in the state (2001, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006), and that does not bode well for the Lexington teams. The level Trinity improves during the season is astonishing.

I am assuming you mean the 2003 team here. the 2002 team went 15-0. Unless you consider beating Elder in week 2 or 3 44-20 starting slow. :walk:

Noted ... pldgreatno2, this is how you use supporting evidence to advance an argument.

It's really getting outrageous. Just because they're in your district and beat you yearly doesn't mean you are being competitive. If that is so, then Lexington is being competitive with Trinity (The State Champs) yearly.

A ram fan has backed up what I said. Maybe you didn't see it. Check page 3. Do your research. Hey, don't let the truth get to you man. Its only reality.
