Who will be the next football coach at Henderson County?

Featured Replies

Jackson has potential to be a great coach, but has not shocked the state yet.

Pardue has a few rings in the closet and a finals appearence as a HC.

If I were judging purely on resumes...I have to go with Pardue...JMO.

Interesting! If you were the AD at these schools, would you be scrambling to put together a list?

I just want to put something out there, a fact, so that there isnt any misunderstanding from a rumor that might come about.....so

Marty Jaggers was contacted by someone VERY high in the Henderson administration earlier this morning, making another pitch to Jaggers (a very well known Henderson alum and booster made the first call) about applying and possibly taking the job at Hendo. Jaggers, again ,denied the request and will be staying put at Mercer County.

I just wanted to clear things up on here before anything might have possibly gotten stired up that wasn't true, b/c unfortunately, the rumor mills on here a lot of times get going in the wrong direction.

We thought that Jaggers was out of the picture a week ago. We know he done well with two schools combining to win a state title. Great job and congrats on that.

The four candidates mentioned are great names and wish them the best.

It would be hard for Marty to leave Mercer-Burg and start over again. Sure they may pay him as much as Mercer but what facilities does Henderson have? I know Mercer has a nice indoor facility.

Just remember the AD at Mercer now was the AD at Lincoln while Jaggers was there and the bond they have is also a key to Marty staying.

Again quality names in all 5 coaches and wish Henderson the best in this hiring process.

I couldnt agree more that the final candidates would all be great choices! To be honest, from what I was told, Henderson's head coaching pay, although a good one, wasn't going to be what Jaggers coaching pay at Mercer is or even close.

As far as facilities goes, Henderson's stadium is as good as one could possibly want, their bermuda surface is as good as it gets, their stadium is a bigger version of Danville's. Truth be told, Mercer's football stadium itself isnt all that special, but a new one is due to be built at the completion of the new school come the fall of 2008. You're right, though, about the Indoor Facility, it's above and beyond words to describe, one you have to see for yourself. It's the third best one in the state, only behind UK and UL's.

A correction about the AD, though. Terry Yeast (H'burgs former football HC) is the athletic director. Bruce Johnson is the one you are thinking of. Johnson is the Superintendant at Mercer. He was also the Super at LC when Jaggers was there, and you're right, they do have a tight bond. Johnson is what most football coaches could only dream about working under.

True that. :thumb:

Thanks for the correction and information. I will agree the football stadium at Mercer isn't nothing special but in 2008 it may be top of the line.:thumb:

Does anybody else think that the administration is taking WAY to long to find a coach? I mean he still has to find assistants, get to know the kidos, and many other things. I think that this is really hurting the kids.

This whole scenario is a little bit skewed. It is not only going to have a big impact on HC, but think about the situation of the school from where the coach is coming.

I'll say that when this started I didn't have much confidence in Swanson to handle it and he so far hasn't done much to prove me wrong. Maybe all will be well in the end, who knows. He has definitely taken his time in finding someone.

After everything that has happened over the last year these kids deserve the best coach the school can get. I hope it works out for the best Henderson is a good place with great potential.

Henderson County had a kid die this past year. They may very well be seeking child/parent input on all this. They are very late in the game as it is, and I for one do not blame them for taking the extra time to dot every "i" and cross every "t."

You're right Hearsay, they better dot some i's and cross some t's. Two year probation for all sports, didn't even own a heat index reading instrument, kept an inelgible kid on the team even though they were told by the KHSAA he was ineligible.

This will all work out for the better, hopefully, but it's been a slow and painful process for the Hendo faithful.

Should have a new on board in a couple of days.

Here's hoping!! From the word on the street, all indications is that it will be just that! Ok, I know, back to the original thread....:jump:

Probation for all sports, due to an instrument about $150-200 dollars and is required by KHSAA.

The next coach will be watched like a hawk and have a heavy burden to deal with dealing with parents and public attention.

This new coach better be prepared for a long haul, but whomever it may be will do a great job because these men are quality people and canidates.

According to another site, Brian Rector from Ravenwwod High School in TN was the 5th interviewee. My guess is they are in negotiations with him right now. He has a good situation in TN is probably the only canidate that would have to consider everything if the job were offered.
