Well I simply do dislike the Bush administration but I can't honestly blame them on this............or could I?:sssh: I work for the Kentucky government and they have blocked my access at work on a lot of the internet....now that I think of it.....we have a republican running our commonwealth also...:sssh:

Personally it wouldn't matter to me who the administration was. If this was Clinton I would be saying the exact same thing. I think the government is really having some monumental pr problems right now and the thousands and thousands of videos on the internet containing war footage from the middle east is one of their biggest problems. When people see things like that for themselves it can really have quite an affect on them. It's a lot different then just hearing about it on the news. I'm not saying that there are no technical difficulties being encountered, but come on people, it's the U.S. government. If they wanted these sites available they could make it happen. All that I'm saying is that I think they are trying to kill two birds with one stone. It's a smart move on their part but I don't personally don't care for it.

Yet, this won't stop our government from forging letters from "soliders" and having them posted in every newspaper across the country saying how great the war is. Making sure that video showing Tommy helping up that poor Iraqi kid covered in blood and taking him to his parents. THOSE videos will get online.

I'm not sold on "technical reasons." I'm sure they don't want soldiers posting videos on Youtube or Myspace, but just come out and say it.

I can't get to those websites at my job either, I don't see the issue.

My employer has blocked Myspace and YouTube, also. But here's the difference. I get to go home at night and can watch whatever I want to watch. Most of these men and women don't. None of us can compare our jobs to what these individuals do and what they give up.

I know about 9-10 people who have been there who echo the sentiments that you say are made up above.

Are you complaining about the fact that our government uses propoganda to promote the conflict we are engaged in? Chech out every other war in the history of our nation. Could you imagine if youtube was broadcasting pictures of the front during WWII? Do you THINK that may have been detremental to recruitment? At what point in time did we begin to believe as a public that we should be able to see EVERYTHING with our own eyes. That is why we have elected officials. We are a democratic republic, not a pure democracy.

Hold on. You're accusing the government of "forging letters from soldiers"? Can you back that up with any evidence whatsoever?

 

If a soldier displays compassion, risks his life to deliver food and supplies to help out those suffering from the effects of war, or behaves as a caring individual as opposed to the blood thirsty warrior that you imagine, THOSE videos should be suppressed? I'm not sure where you're getting your information but these acts happen daily and are seldom reported or recognized.

 

As for the brainwashing, they still have access to all online newspapers and TV broadcasts. I have gotten along quite nicely without YouTube and Myspace and I don't believe the elimination of those two is going to leave a huge void in the information gathering ability of our military.
