How do you think things will play out?

Did the umpires let Beechwood re-enter their DH?

Depending on the situation, it is legal to reenter the DH in some cases

As long as the DH is in the orig starting line-up, he can re-enter. Rule says ALL starters can re-enter one time.

Predictions:

W'burg/Beechwood--Beechwood

Danville/Russellville--Danville

Danville All A State Champions

**Beechwood back in the finals next yr as the winners again!!

That what I was thinking.

I hope your right on your prediction. Bring the trophy home to the 12th region.

The DH is not part of starting line-up. you can re enter any position player but not the DH.

Did the umpires let Beechwood re-enter their DH?

Yes and they made the correct decision...

The player that started the game DH can re-enter the lineup one time, like any other starter. But if the first move took the DH out of play, he would have to play a position on the field when he re-enters the game.

What were the specifics of this situation?

Exactly as you stated. DH is on base and the person he was DH'ing for is entered to run for him late in the game, subsequently 'killing' the DH...for the time being.

Later in the game (extra innings) when the player is up to bat they wanted to re-enter the DH into the batting order and put him in the field.

Would agree, this looks like a winner to me....Anyone know anything about Campbellsville?

I hate to burst your bubble but you are wrong. I read this rule specifically in the 2007 High School Rules/Case book solely due to this situation. Beechwood tried to re-enter the DH last week during the first 9 inn. of the game but did not until they knew for sure they could.

Subsequently, they got the Rules/Case book and it is in black and white. The coaches thought they were right due to every starter being allowed to re-enter once as the DH is considered a starter.

Our All A contest is up and running.

If the PR had not been the kid that was being DHd for, the DH still exists. I can PH for a DH and the new guy is the DH. So, in this case, had it been a kid off the bench that was the PR the original DH could re-enter as the DH. The DH is not dead until the player being DHd for becomes an offensive player.

Allow me! Elliott for BHS and a very hard throwing lefty for LCA. Neither team hitting, bottom of the 12th, runners on 1st/2nd w/one out. Chas Hyde hits a bouncer to 1st that takes a great hop over the first baseman's head, Slusher coming all the way from second to score.

Chas Hyde, IMO, player of the game. He had the first hit against LCA/1st RBI when the game started at Freedom last week to get things rolling, had another hit later, made two great catches in LF. Then today, w/LCA's best hitter up, cuts a ball off in LC and comes up throwing to gun him down at 2nd where that little 8th grader stands in there like a SR and tags him out.

Beechwood will try to repeat w/a very young and inexperienced team who just shows up and plays. W/in a weeks time they have played the #1 team in the state(L 10-4 w/numerous 1st inning errors) then beat #20 Apollo and beat #5 LCA. Don't know much about the top half of the brackets but I do know that Danville/O'Cath have to square off in the first game. The Tigers have a shot.

Why does the post keep listing Elliott as a senior ? He is a junior .

That little 8th grader you refer to had a huge game vs .Williamstown on Tuesday . Something like 3 or 4 hits and 6 rbi's .Including a double to left center which is 400 ' .Told it would of been gone in a normal field od more to left .

Congrats Tigers and The Little Guy !!

or if the DH plays defense, the DH is killed.
