April 30, 200719 yr I know a guy who is having the kit put in his ride to make it run on used vegetable oil. He has a new Chevy 2500. I know you have to drive a vehicle with a diesel engine to be able to do this. It sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Anyone else know anyone who has this ? I guy I teach with has it.

He says it runs better, stronger, cleaner and gets better mileage. However, the data I've seen says there's a 5-10% drop in mileage and power. I'll take that for virtually free fuel.

I knew you could do it with the Jetta but I didnt find out untill the other day that it could be done with any diesel engine. I would use it with my Tahoe if it was a diesel.
April 30, 200719 yr I don't think you need to make any modification if you use biodiesel. If you use straight vegtable oil, I think you need a kit, which may ruin your engine warranty.
April 30, 200719 yr You can run biodiesel without any modifications. I have heard the Ford Powerstrokes don't get along very well with biodiesel though. You can also buy kits to make your own biodiesel.
April 30, 200719 yr How is owning multiple cars going to cause you to use more gas? You could own a 100 cars but you can only drive one at a time. Very true. But how do they base the amount of gasoline they produce. Is it based upon population or number of cars registered. If it is the latter then they would push the production amount up therefore increasing demand in the gasoline companies eyes when in truth we may not need quite as much. Kind of plays on that whole supply and demand issue.

Instead of me driving them all over the place for activities, I will say no to them and instead, we will go over the hill and walk in the creek go fishing and skipping rocks down by the pond maybe fly a kite play board games like Monopoly, Aggravation, etc. teach them how to play card games like my parents taught me throw baseball with my son shoot baskets with my daughter play my son's video games with him get them to appreciate sitting down and reading a book read through a book of the Bible with them all activities that I did growing up and I didn't suffer because my parents couldn't run me all over the place.
