CM might need to look at his record with USA Basketball and the Mumme regime before he starts criticizing anyone else.

Foley is a good friends with JP and loves him. I think he will follow Billy D there at UF.

:thumb: My thoughts exactly. Barnhardt has been a huge upgrade over Newton and Ivy. UK would have been the most attractive job in the country when Pitino left, and instead of actually conducting a coaching search and putting some thought into it, Newton hires Tubby Smith (whose resume then was quite similar to Gillespie's now) before Rick could get his clothes packed...and he questions this hire. If he were going to roll the dice in '97, why didn't he hire Billy Donovan? I'm not a big fan of C.M. Newton and this only reinforces my position. Questioning a guy for making almost the same move he did 10 years ago... :thumb:

I think that CM is entitled to his opinion...as are we all...BUT I think that the media should not be giving it anymore attention than they would towards any of us. CM has not more impact on that program now, then the fans....his opinion should be considered as such. Besides, he's wrong.

Each one of those would have seemed to be good hires. Mumme had success and THEN we found out how. I know I had NO INTEREST at all in UK football till Air Mumme. I was hooked on the excitement of UK football at that time.

 

Curry had the pedigree to be a great hire.

 

And Maddox seemed to be a great, great move. Pitino pedigree and why it didn't work, I don't know.

 

And I will leave the Tubby hire alone because that battle has been fought before. I will just say I hope that Billy G averages 26 wins a season, wins 30 games twice, wins a National Title, goes to three other Elite 8's, put 8-10 players in the NBA in his career coaching at UK.

Someone may need to correct me on this but I was thinking that Cliff Hagan hired Curry. I could be wrong on that however. Regardless of who ever hired him, I'm not so sure that he had the great pedigree as he was run out of Alabama. I do have to question any head coach that would allow his offensive coordinator to put Tim Couch running an option offense.

Some UK fans may finally get over Pitino if Gillispie gives them a National Title.I just don't think most of them could handle getting dumped again the way Ricky P. did them! :cry: :cry: :cry:

nothing personal...just that we went thru this with Rick P. for several years before he did leave..seems like every year,his name would come up connected with a pro team...and yes it finally DID happen!
