There was gridlock...changes had to be made. No one has doubted OTS ability to coach...however, it gotten stale and he was not the recruiter he needed to be.

I didn't mind that he left. And I look for this coach to do a good job also. You will keep this stupid thread at the top as long as they struggle, and as soon as there is success I will guess we won't see it again. Any way not worth the time. Keep on a hatin brother.

How can you and every other Tubby basher ignore that Tubby's huge recruiting class(Rondo, Morris, Crawford, Bradley), what all the Tubby bashers wanted and claim is his weakness, is what ultimately caused him to fail and is continuing to kill Billy Gillespie. Talent does not equal wins-team basketball and hard nosed defense does; those 4 were and are selfish and will do it no coach's way but their own. For the ignorance of Kentucky fans, it is poetic justice!

If anything I think he saw the ice berg coming... If Mark Coury was my PF I would find a new job as well.

I don't see a 5-6 record there, though.... Oh yeah, they beat cupcakes. Wish we could.
December 30, 200718 yr Tubby went into a stuation at Minnesota with players yearning and desiring to be coached and to overcome what they had gone through the previous two years. You can't say this UK team has a desire to be coached, especially Bradley and Crawford...particularly Crawford...and they are your senior leaders. Keeping Tubby for this year would have been the equivalent of winning the battle and losing the war.

The main reason why Patterson is here most likely is because of the job Tubby did in trying to get him here. I mean I dont think Billy G had much of a relationship with Patterson at all before he took the UK job. So for Patterson to still decide to come here, instead of going somewhere else like UF or Duke where he had a long relationship with the coaches, shows how Tubby pretty much had Patterson convinced to come here. I do give some credit to Billy G though becuase he did a GREAT job in making sure Patterson still came here to UK...

You can speculate about if Tubby would have landed him or not, but the fact is that he didn't. Patterson was not signed with UK when Tubby left, and Tubby isn't exactly the best closer in the recruiting world.
