Is it safe to say that after we have suffered through a decade of Tubby-ball (i.e., no offense, no movement, PG's dribbling the shot clock out at the top of key, etc.) that Mitch will for sure hire an up-tempo coach?

That sounds like a solid assumption... ;)

All adding a poll to this thread did was change the title from "Who will be the next UK coach?" to "Who do you WANT to be the next UK coach?"

You don't think Billy D will consider the UK job?

I'd like to think it is...talk about setting a guy up for failure...try bringing another coach in who plays that slow down style...ouch!

You don't think Billy D will consider the UK job?

He's a fool not to consider it...It's been said many times that UK will have to pay to get him, and I believe they will if they think he may be interested...It will come down to who is willing to spend more money on the Kid...

For what it is worth. Someone I know, who works at the airport in Lexington, told me that they saw John Pelphrey today. They also said they saw Shaun Sutton, too.

If UK really wants him and it comes down to money, Florida won't be able to outbid them...of that I am certain.

If that's the case, I sure hope they get what they pay for. :thumb:

Me too...

Here's a question for you...did they get what they paid for from Tubby?

See, that's a tough question for me...Im a much more laid back kind of fan when it comes to coaches. IMO, Tubby did a good job at Kentucky. If I was a Kentucky fan, I wouldn't have any problems with him. Recruiting of course would have been an issue, but the people wanted Burger Boys, he got two, and they are flops...You really can't blame that on him. But IMO, yes, I think they got their money's worth on Tubby. My opinion doesn't matter, though, because Im not a UK fan...My standards and expectations are a bit more realistic than some in the Kentucky fanbase...

I guess mine are unrealistic, because I don't think UK was getting $2.1 million worth...he was good. But, when you're coaching at UK for that kind of money, good isn't good enough. And that's fine with me.

I think Tubby is too old-fashioned to coach at a program like UK...I don't think he ever related well to blue-chip talent and if you can't bring in big time talent and get something out of it, you aren't going to be able to keep UK at the level that is demanded. If I was an elite players and turned on the TV and saw two things...

1) UK struggling to score 60 points while racking up 3 shot clock violations in one half

2) North Carolina flying up and down the court scoring 90+ and the announcers constantly talking about how Roy Williams always wants to play faster

Where do I want to play? I think his style of play and track record with highly rated players really started to hurt Tubby's recruiting more and more during his tenure. I think he'll do find at Minnesota, but it was just time for a change at UK...for him and for the program.

One reason I think Donovan would strongly consider the UK job, other than the prestige of the UK job, is the fact that no matter what he does, he's always going to be playing backup to the football program in Gainesville. I think that may play a bigger role than some people are giving it credit for. Plus, if he comes to UK and gets the program back to a consistent top 10 level, he'd be a state hero...I think those things would be appealing to him. I could be wrong though.

Pelphrey wouldn't go from being a head coach to an assistant coach again...
