Someone with less success over the last 10 years than Tubby.

 

How many candidates have accomplished the following:

Averaged 26 wins per season.

Won a national title.

Won 30 games two seasons ago.

NEVER missed the NCAA tournament.

Made 3 Elite 8's.

Undefeated in the SEC season.

 

No coach that I know of that UK will be able to get will have had this much success.

 

So on the success scale, their next coach will be a step down.

Gillispie is the only one I'd have off that list. He, and most of the others on that list are YOUNG coaches. They haven't had a shot at a title. Other than Ford/Pelphry (who are REAL young) everyone else on that list has coached teams to higher rankings recently than Tubby.

Guess I will weigh in.

 

A couple good lists of coaches listed so far.

 

D'antoni = Bring it on. Good assistants, NBA recruiting ability. THICK skinned.

 

Crean = Decent hire. Can recruit better with SEC & UK backing.

 

Few= WCC isn't anything. Will bring GREAT GUARDS. Never coached anywhere else besides Guard U. Just signed a HUGH extension.

 

Izzo = 12th year at Mich. St. might be ready to change. Track record with tourney and recruiting.

 

Pitino= I could NEVER, EVER see Pitino coming and honestly, I like him there.

 

Billy D = I wont say no way, but ..NO WAY! haha! What benefit is there?

 

Ford = Needs more national success for UK's recruiting ability, IMO.

 

Pelhprey = See Ford!

 

 

Tubby's success at our program was very good.

BUT------

Sweeping losses to Vandy, Florida, minimal tourney success and double digit losses did him in.

 

 

 

 

If the cats would have just won that double OT game against Mich St. he would still be here.
