The way I see it, questions like this and that point of view are legitimate and I have no problems questioning that stuff.

 

Now what does annoy me is people like Doyel blasting a team or a coach for the team's play. Also I do not need John Clay or Rick Bozich telling me whether or not Coach Smith should be coaching UK next year.

 

Basically what I am saying is these guys are just journalism majors who made it into sports. They are writers with good penmanship, not sports geniuses who know the games like coaches and experienced players.

Most of the time no, but that doesn't mean I don't know the game, how to evaluate talent and how to determine if a team is playing like crap. At that level they are paid very well to watch the games and write what they see. And in turn it's clear they do it well because they have a large audience that reads what they have to say if they like it or not...

Do you enjoy Chris Mortensen or Michael Irvin's views on the NFL? Just being a former player or coach does not make you a good journalist or broadcaster. Billy Packer played at this level. What are your thoughts on him? I think your views are very shortsighted and firmly entrenched in not liking what these three you mentiion have to say about UK...

I will say this though. The question is comical, I think Coach K responded very vicely considering.

 

The people on here who for some reason feel Duke is UK's bigest rival would get on here and make fun of Coach K if he cured cancer.

I agree that he has some work to do as a National guy covering all sports, but when it comes to NCAA basketball he knows as much as anyone in the business. Sure he'll stretch a few minor issues to make a point here and there, but that's just his style. It's pretty clear that the popularity of his work got him the promotion, so to question his writing ability is comical...

Well Michael Irvin is obviously not all there. Great athlete, but hey hes played football for a while and has been hit in the head too many times. And Im sure his extra-curricular activities have hurt him as well. As for Packer, I think he has gradually gotten worse in his older age.

As for Clay, Bozich, and Doyel, Ive not seen anything Doyel has written or said about UK this season. Clay has been in support of Tubby mostly and believes he should stay. Bozich said Tubby should leave. I dont agree with him.

Remember Doyel is the guy who said there would be very few upsets in the NCAA tourney last March. Ive read a lot of their columns and I am simply not impressed.

Look, there are some sports guys I like who I dont think are overly smart or know their stuff that great, but they are funny and entertaining.

Colin Cowherd, makes some good points, some times bad ones, but hes entertaining.

Michael Irvin, the guy is funny and entertaining IMO.

Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon, absolutely great to listen to.

 

Dan Patrick's show is great IMO. I do find him to be very smart and have good views on a lot of stuff.

 

Every coach you talk to goes on and on about how good of a coach they think Tubby Smith is. And Bozich thinks he should be fired? Come on, that is weak.

Because I get a kick out of a lot of the stupid stuff he writes. Although I will admit to not reading hardly anything about him this season.
