Simon Kenton district championship under investigation?

Featured Replies

There was 16 in uniform and 16 participated in the game. The 16th entered the game and a technical foul was assessed.

Is this a foul or a head shake from an official who thinks they are the game.

Would you guys still feel the need to go by the book if the situation were something similar to the kid in Rochchester, NY last year? I'm not all about fudging rules that are created in sports or in the general society that are designed to enhance fairness and organization. I'm not close enough to this matter to fully know what took place at the SK game except for what I have read in this thread, but from what I'm gathering is that SK had a giant lead, played bench warmers who have helped out in practice all year without ever getting playing time. They couldn't possibly be a threat to the opposing team or else they would've played more often to begin with. I know it's difficult to wage just how far rules can be bent, but no matter what your cut and dried rule ethics are, I have to believe that most people can understand that some situations have little-to-no effect on the reason the rule/rules was/were created in the first place when bending/breaking them is a more ethical solution to the situation at hand. So I'm thinking, "Ease up guys, just look at the situation at hand". As important as we, myself included, make sports out to be, what took place, if anything, was just a very small dot in the grand scheme of life. My bet is that we can all just get over it and move on.

I think from reports I have they knew and were willing to accept the techinicals and go forward. Does this mean they are above rules?

Honestly. Are you this upset that they allowed a 16th player to get time on the court? It's not like he had any effect on the game, and if he was that far down on the bench, he's most likely a liability has his level, so it didn't hurt the other team. They got the technical that they deserved. I think it was a class act by the coach to let the kid play, he deserved it.

They got the technical. Obviously the coach knew the rule, chose to go against it (based on his own idea/principles - no argument from me there), the bookkeeper did his/her job, the officials did their job. That is the end of the line. Done deal. On to the regional tournament!

Agree. Nothing is going to come out of this. The KHSAA will not get involved.

If they chose to get involved this matter would be resolved in ? The KHSAA to me is similiar to MLB this is a matter that should be reviewed

I agree with b-ball-fan. Heck i'm going to see if the next time we're winning we can reward the ballboys and mascots for working hard all year! They deserve a moment in the spotlight--maybe they can play the last 1 or 2 minutes, whats it going to hurt?

IMO: Nothing will come out of this. The KHSAA will not take away a victory from SK. SK might get a slap on the wrist, but that's it.

I just looked up this player's stats on the Enquirer site. He played a grand total of 8 varsity minutes this year and scored two points. (He did have some decent shooting statistics connecting on one of two shots for the season.) The only games he played in were the two regualr season games against Williamstown and a 30 point win against Grant.

Maybe SK should take the runner-up spot of the District and take Walton's spot in the bracket. Seems like a better spot to me?

Explains the T, I didn't know the reason until now but it makes sense. I remember Trent clearing the bench and he had one guy left and as soon as he entered they calle a T on the SK bench. I don't think anything serious will occur, I applaud coach for giving the kid a chance, he will always remember the experience even if the game was well in hand.

I myself dont think that this is such a big deal. However the KHSAA does set the rules and everyone is supposed to play by them. IF the schools envoleved make a big deal about this then there will be a investigation and I can see them taking the championship away.

Sorry Strike 3. My source was a guy at the BP in Florence who saw my t-shirt and asked if I had heard about SK being under investigation. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard about this. I had already heard about SK supposedly playing too many players but he added the investigation part. I did not mean to break any rules, but this was a topic I have been hearing a lot about and wondered if there was any truth to it. Lets hope there isn't.

Lets all sit back and soak this in for a minute...
