Kentucky vs Alabama... 1st Round SEC Tournament

Featured Replies

The Cats can't "destroy" anybody. They might defeat Bama...but it won't be by much.

The Cats destroyed Auburn earlier in the year. :D

Didn't UK lose to Alabama in the regular season and return the favor in the SEC tourney last year? It would be nice for history to repeat itself...

A lot depends on Ronald Steele. If he plays it will be tough. If he doesn't it will be tough.

Who knows with this group. Things change from half to half.

Here is the interesting thing.

Most are saying UK is a lock.

What if they lose to Bama, and Bama has been in the bubble.

Bama will have beaten UK twice and still not make tourney, and UK does?

Overall, it is tough for Bama to overcome 4 20+ blowouts to teams as they have.

I think I might have to slip the portable radio into 4th block at school Thursday to help me concentrate on my schoolwork.;) I don't think I could do any work knowing the Cats were playing and I couldn't listen/watch it.:D

As for the game, I have UK getting another good game from Perry and pulling out a 6 point win, 77-71.

I think this one has the feel of a play in game for the NCAA tourney. If Bama loses I think they're definately out. If UK loses I think it puts them sitting on the fence with their fate resting on what happens to the other regular season conference champs in their tournaments. I think UK is in with a win.

It's a crying shame a thread has to be worded this way.

UK is in. They needed the win at Georgia, they're a lock. They're playing for seeding now, and they have a lot to prove in that regard.

I think having a winning record in the SEC gets them in. Had they had 20 wins but a losing conference record, they'd be NIT bound, baby.

UK is in.

I think so too, but I'll be pretty nervous come next Sunday if they're sitting at 20-11.

E3 Tennessee

W6 LSU...... Winner plays W2 Mississippi

W4 Auburn

E5 Georgia........ Winner plays E1 Florida

W3 Arkansas

E6 South Carolina........ Winner plays E2 Vanderbilt

E4 Kentucky

W5 Alabama......... Winner plays W1 Mississippi State

I like our chances, it looks like a pretty good spot to be in.

Don't forget USC.

UK could easily win this or easily lose this. Bottom line is we shouldn't be playing in the first round. But thats the new standards.

What is wrong with Steele? What are the chances he will play?

I don't know if it's a new standard...but it is certainly not a suprise....playing early in the SEC tourney can be a double edged sword...if they were gonna lose, it doesn't really matter when in the tourney they would....but if they play real well against Alabama, they could march right in against UF (assuming they don't get beat) with a nice 3 game win streak and a bunch of momentum in south Lexington. Do you all think the same amount will still travel? Also, I saw the ACC tourney will be in Atlanta in '09, I think...where will the SEC be that year?
