Saw the Bellevue team practicing when I was picking up some of the softball players at the gym. I am not sure of the talent level but WOW! were the practices I have seen intense. Everybody working extremely hard and numbers were in the low 30's with no basketball players out yet.

 

Also.........was very impressed several times by a player I though just looked young.....but the high school kids told me he is only a 3rd grader. Very smooth in the fielding drills and talking to the high school players he runs all the sprints and does everything at practice. Saw him hit in the cage and has a great swing for such young kid. Don't know who he is but impressive.

 

The pitching also looked deep and strong. Coach Sanders looks like he is putting together a heck of a squad!

Weren't they 6 & 22 last year? Who is going to help them improve?

They were very young and hadn't had good coaching for awhile. While they won't be competing for a regional title I am happy to see the kind of practices and intensity as well as the fundamentals. Coach Sanders is trying to create an atmosphere and an attitude surrounding the program. Much better than 14 players and playing 13 games as they did 2 years ago.

It is probably the A.D.'s son...Braileigh Seiter (sp)....He plays on my sons baseball team...He is a very good little player........very skilled for his age.

Kudos to the Bellevue Vets for the work they have done on those fields down there and workign with the High school for many years. Back when I played, we played on the front field and some games it wasnt uncommon to have left handers park some balls up on Riviera Drive where Party Source is now.

 

Who will they have on their roster this year? Ross? Babb?

Is that crafty little pitcher Tony "Pipes" Piper going to be in the rotation this year? Where will the pesky Comb-Z be playing???

Yes Coach Sanders is a heck of a baseball coach and I think he has put a great staff together. Funny on the Eddie Gaedel reference hadn't thought about the St. Louis Browns in years.:sssh: .....although this is defiinitely not a side show.

The Tigers will be better but still a little on the young side. The Varsity looks to have 5 seniors, 7 Juniors, 5 Sophs and 3 Frosh on the roster. They are markedly improved over two years ago and have taken great strides since last season. Pitching is deep but very young with only two seniors taking the hill this season. Schedule is full of teams outside the region and they will be taking to the road to play in two tournaments out of town. Spring Break they will be in Berea during the early half of the week and later will take a trip to Corbin for a two day tourney. There will be both a JV and Freshman team even though most of the frosh will play both. 37 kids in the program this year bodes well for the future.

I simply cannot imagine a situation where a 3rd grader plays freshman baseball.
