Augusta 56 St.Patrick 50

Well the curse is over, this was the first game the panthers won that I attended this season.:ylsuper:

Great game from start to finish. Gotta give it to seniors Josh White and Jeremy Hardymon, this was the best game I've seen them play since last years District Tournament. Chris Mofford was the savior tonight though, limited minutes, but he was in at the right time with a game saving block with 15 seconds remaining. Poor judgement on Chris Owens though with that shot. Tie game plenty of time on the clock, it just seemed rushed. Owens is a very good player, but the final minute of the game he and the Saints just fell apart. Nick Anderson played a great game finding the basket whenever the Saints needed a big one. Augusta's defense played well giving Owens all kinds of different looks, 2-3 zone and a box and 1 for most of the night, even thought I saw a triangle and 2 that caused a turnover with seconds remaining. The officiating in the first half was down right pathetic on both sides, the worst that I've seen in a postseason game. The 2nd half was pretty solid though, bad calls had no effect on the outcome of the game though to make that clear.

What about Robin's Riverside Drive?

Or rename Main Street, Robin Parkway or Have Bracken Street (Augusta Schools is located on) Rob Kelsch Drive.

This is was a great game and Augusta played almost an error-free game. Big block by Mofford at the end, I think I predicted he would be huge for Augusta tonight.

That he was!

You have to wonder now,as good a player that Owens is,if he will ever showcase in a regional. He only has one more chance. Did the departure of Newton and injury of Englert hurt the Saints this time(it certainly didn'y help)?

To the team from my home away from home, a huge CONGRATS! I'm very happy for you guys. Keep playing hard and with the belief you can go all the way.

Poor officiating in the first half; seemed like most of the calls went against the Panthers but you sensed it could be their night only being down by 4 at halftime even with the poor calls.

Key point of the game (to me) was getting Mofford in the game for rebounding; after being up 47-40, St. Pat got back in it with second chances; Augusta looked to be standing around a little. Mofford got several boards down the stretch and even though he missed about 3 bunnies he made the plays at crunch time. Huge 4-point play by Groves as well. Josh White had a nice overall game as well, as did Hardymon.

Both teams played hard; Augusta just seemed to have more poise down the stretch. Congratulations to the Panthers on qualifying for the regional tourney for the second straight year.

How can you say the officiaing went against the panthers. The Saints players down low were getting hacked. The owens layup at the end was not a clean block by mofford. But Congrag Augusta and Good Luck in The Region Rob and everyone else.

The Owens layup at the end was not a block you are right? But the trip before when he went to the basket was not a foul either -- He hit both FTs to tie it up.. So it worked out in the end!

Speaking more of the calls in the first half - the 8-foot slide by Owens that wasn't called a travel, moving screens not called, a couple of very questionable charge/block calls. Just seemed to me that the calls went against the Panthers in the first half and against key players. Some of that may have been my vantage point - close to the end zone by the concessions - so it was much easier for an old guy like me to see things on that end of the floor.

The only thing that I saw that wasn't called against the Panthers was palming the ball by White, their point guard. If it isn't going to be called, however, it isn't palming.

Tough way to go out for the Saints; Owens and Anderson really deserve to play in the Regional tournamant. Hopefully next year as seniors they'll get their chance.

As a player i thought myself and others were hacked all night.

I was not able to attend the game, but my husband did and he said that St. Pat got all the calls early on and then the 2nd half was evenly called. Just was his opinion.

Congrats go out to the Panthers and Condolences to Coach Hinson and the Saints

I would call that play by Owens was desperation at best and you're not going to get that call in tourney time. I kind of thought he was out of control, might have been just from my view. There was a lot of time on the clock and I think he just rushed it under the heavy pressure from the on-ball defenders but the block was clean by Mofford.

My heart goes out to Englert. I know how tough it is to miss a game during your final year, but I do not know how it feels to miss the biggest game of your career. I hate to see this happen to such a great guy.

With that said, I would like to congratulate the Panthers on their success.

A good official should not call anything different at tournament time than any other time of the year, nor should a call not be made at the end of a game, just because it is the end of the game.

Mofford was called for a foul earlier on a clean block, but he made contact with Owens on the last one. And how bad was the charge on Owens when he split the double team in the first half?

Officiating 100% did not determine the outcome of this game. Players did. Saint Patrick got too impatient on offense and relied too much on the 3 (which was not falling) instead of attacking the basket.
