^I just recently read his book, "Culture Warrior" and it opened my eyes to a lot of things.

 

Great book, along with all of his others that I have read. Everyone should read it, especially evil libs.

O'rielly makes a point and sticks to it. He does this rather agressivelly but after all it is his Show.

As far as conservatives go, I can stomach Joe Scarborough much more than the wannabe entertainer, BOR. I actually watch Scarborough Country quite a bit, believe it or not.

I don't have a problem with him sticking to his point. I have a problem with him browbeating his guests and not allowing them to make their point. He never lets them finish their sentences and pretty much escalates the intereviews to shouting matches. If it were me being interviewed, I'd just wait for a lull, and then ask him..."Do you want my view in my words? Or should we just let you tell me what my view is in your words? Just tell me, and I'll do it your way."

So, then, how does one learn anything about the "other side" when guests are treated like that? How can we consider programs like "Factor" to be jounralistic endeavors, when there's no real intention of presenting the "other" view. There's no interest in hearing what the other side is saying; just to simply attach the messanger trying to deliver his message. What's the point?

I bit on the media spin that he was a right wing wackodoo.

But listened for myself and found out that he has views that go against the mainstream republican party.

 

 

I think he is mean to people who try to disagree with him and USUALLY cuts off their phone calls. Let them have more then one sentence a caller, Bill. We hear you all the time. haha

Regardless of party affiliation or lib/con persuasion; I've always assumed that folks who aren't willing to even hear out an opposing viewpoint are probably insecure in their own stance on the issue.

 

Often the browbeating is couched in terms like "You're just wrong; I can't change you so I'm not gonna listen." What I hear when I read between the lines is "I'm afraid you might make points with my audience and I'm not willing to take that chance."

I find myself listening to his radio show somewhat frequently.

I don't think of any of them as journalistic endeavors. It's rare that the other side's view is really explored. And that goes for all the networks.

True. You could list probably 90% of the radio/tv news/talk shows, or whatever they're considered.

You have to monitor the whackos so you know how to debunk their arguments.

When they showed the clip where Al Frankin pointed out that Bill was a registered repulican, after Bill claimed to be an independent pretty much summed up for me what a low regard O'riely has for the truth.

 

I f youwatch O'Reilly at all then you would know that he is not a democrat.
