rockmom Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Last night, Mike Wallace interviewed O'Reilly on 60 Minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to find I came away from watching the segment liking him. I find him to be extremely obnoxious when watching him on his show. I do feel he was contradictory in some respects, given his way of interviewing his own guests, but all-in-all, he's a pretty interesting guy, and actually had a few things to say that I could agree with.
Son of Bear Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 ^I just recently read his book, "Culture Warrior" and it opened my eyes to a lot of things.
75center Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Don't watch O'Reilly but I would have liked to see Wallace interviewing him.

I watched it as well and he was extremely tall, when walking with Wallace. He's plain spoken, blunt and steadfast, in all of his viewpoints.
Diamond Dandy Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 When they showed the clip where Al Frankin pointed out that Bill was a registered repulican, after Bill claimed to be an independent pretty much summed up for me what a low regard O'riely has for the truth.
scooterbob Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 O'Reilly would be a good replacement for John Paul Stevens on the U.S. Supreme Court. Of course, replacing Ruth Ginsberg would be even better. Unfortunately, there are no openings at this time and you can be sure that no liberals will be leaving the court in the near future.

He may be a right wing nut, but every one of his opinions would begin with "Off with their heads!"

Being registered as one thing and what you actually are may not be the same. I am registered as Democrat but I am not a Democrat.
cch5432 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I watched it. Being a cynic (check my location), I came up with three observations/questions. 1. How much of O'Reilly's anger/intensity/rage is for real? Does he do it for it's entertainment value? 2. How "right-wing" is he? He supports gay marriage and gay adoption. Is he a true "conservative" or is he an iconoclast? 3. I don't watch many interviews but Mike Wallace is annoying. He seemed more like a paid actor than a journalist. So much for a happy thread The fued with Franken was hilarious though.

I'm registerd as a Democrat and God knows I don't consider myself one.
titletownclown Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 2. How "right-wing" is he? He supports gay marriage and gay adoption. Is he a true "conservative" or is he an iconoclast? O'Reilly has never claimed to be a conservative and makes this known on a consistent basis. I've watched his show for quite some time now, and have observed that he takes several stances that can be construed as moderate, and yes even liberal at times. Most claims that O'reilly is "right wing" are made by persons that don't even watch his show and thus don't really understand his political beliefs in the first place. One point is undeniable. He neither respects nor admires extremists on either end of the political spectrum.
RockPride Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Rockmom, I too, and you know me...can sometimes not stand BOR...BUT his writing is very easy to stomach...and common sense generally prevails.
Jim Schue Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I find myself listening to his radio show somewhat frequently.
75center Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I have read some of his articles and they're ok. I just can't stand watching the guy for very long. He's just so overbearing.
