A lot of people want him gone. The supporters have and always will be at KY Tubby or no Tubby. Do you agree with that? Do you agree that supporters who want him gone will give more if he leaves? Do the supporters enjoy average recruiting classes and 10 loss seasons?

Meeks and Jasper wanted to come to UK for one reason only....Tubby Smith. Morris and Crawford would both be gone....Buike didn't make an NBA roster, but that didn't stop him from leaving early.

 

 

Stewart may still come, but zero chance UK would get Lucas or Patterson if Tubby leaves. I'd rather have 50/50 than no chance at all.

I think Jasper and Meeks would stay, but you are likely dead on with the rest of your post.

You are 100% right. And I am not worried too much about Lucas, he is a fine prospect but only about 5"10 and I think Jasper has a bright future and is a much bigger player too. Tubby just is not getting it done and does not seem driven enough to change things, or he would have replaced Hansen. And those that want to use the race card are really reaching for excuses, race has nothing to do with Tubby for most UK fans, it is results on the court that matters most to us fans.

The race card drives me nuts. If UK fans are so racist, then why is Chuck Hayes so popular? How about Prince? Shoot, this year the fan favorite bench warmer is black, and thats almost always been a white kid.

As far as the race issue, IMO, firing Tubby after this season would bring a lot of negative publicity to the University. The national media still talks about Rupp being a racist, and I'm afraid that this would add more fuel to their fire.

 

Notre Dame received a black eye in the media for letting go of Ty Willingham, the only real difference between the two situations is that Ty was not given as long as Tubby has had to prove himself. You could argue as to which school's fanbase has the most unrealistic expectations.

 

Going into this season, Tubby has won over 77% of his games while coaching at UK. That would but him in very elite company. Firing Tubby may be a popular decision within the Bluegrass, but I feel that it would be portrayed very unfavorably across the country.
